  1. Believe this as I say it.

He will be a guinea pig. They will release a much better summon buffer on 3.X.

Don’t expect him to be the driver of summon meta for 3.X

  2. I’m seeing reports that he forces the summoner go first and summon to go second. I hope they change this. Why? Is there any character that prefers their summons to go right after them? Lingsha AA is wasted. Topaz’s AA is wasted. Sparkle buff is lost. It’s the worst world. Depending on his other supports he will in many cases lose buffs such as hanya ult, ting yun ult, sparkle buff, bronya ult, sarcerdos set buff, among other things. It’s really clunky this way for many characters.

Even for Jing yuan with no sparkle, Somehow people think that it gives JY an extra turn to top off on some more stacks, but It makes no stack difference in a rotation. He would get stacks either right before or right after summon goes. The way it is just gives him a turn to lose buffs before his summon goes. Even on the first rotation JY technique will give 3 extra stacks.

summoner first is clunky and the worst. I see no benefits to our current roster.

    • i mean you kinda answered it at the end, his kit is most likely more beneficial for future units also youd never run topaz with him cause shes not really a hyper carry and why would u action advance lingsha ?, shes a healer.

    • LL has base 3 stacks, technique gives another 3, so it’s at 6, Sunday advances JY up and gives him and the LL an 80% DMG boost and 20% extra crit RATE, JY skills to get the LL at 8 stacks, then an ult puts the LL at max. No buffs can be lost either if you run Robin/Fu Xuan/Ruan Mei, since all their buffs are tied to themselves, and not the DPS.

    • Not to dismiss your point or anything, but as a Jing Yuan user myself, I can see the merit of having the character advances before summon. With the same speed tuning rule as Bronya (-1 speed of dps), Jing Yuan can action first and get 2 stacks, and then get another 2 stacks with Sunday, which makes up 7 stacks consistantly (10 if you are lucky). Sunday’s kit addresses one of the most pressing problems with JY. As for the buffs, I can see that being an issue, but IMO that is also a very solvable one with higher buff refresh frequency, and or buffs based on buffer’s turns. I don’t think Sunday’s kit is meant to work with Topaz and Lingsha, as both primarily fills the spots of sub-dps and break-sustain, but then again with Topaz, a solution can be drafted to mandate her DPS build.
At the end of the day, Sunday seems to be the core support for 3.x summon meta, which none of us knows how it would actually function (if differs from the current summons).

    • He is very underwhelming to honest. Juan Yuan is a pretty dated character and Sunday’s kit doesn’t do much for him. Topaz mainly functions as a sub dps in follow up teams and doesn’t need a dedicated buffer.
I’m sure much like Topaz on release having few teams to work with, Sunday will become better down the line as they release more Summon base dps.

  3. Mid. at most ur gonna get 20/60 and 80% dmg bonus from him and he has to act a lot so getting crit dmg on him while having to speed tone or hyper speed is gonna be hard. also energy problems

    • that just sounds like you dont wanna farm, like spd tuning isnt that hard and he only needs 2 stats ?, just spd and crit dmg,. thats like calling bronya mid and she was like op ash for ages and hes just a better version of her, 100% AA, 80% dmg bonus and 20%free cr is quite good

  4. So then, how would you use him?
The DPSes I have are not summoning characters, but I want him as he’s my fav, so would I use him just like I would Sparkle?
Also which of my listed characters works best? Here’s my character list https://imgur.com/eyvN6PO
5* LCs I have are DHIL, Yunli, HuoHuo, Ratio, Welt, Yanqing, Gepard but I dont think that matters rlly
Seele is not built and I don’t plan on doing so

  5. buff/adjustment I would give to him:

-skills advance forward (AF) by 50% instead of 100%. This would be a nerf to “mobility” but creates more synergy with sparkle; with some speedtuning you can get the best of both buffs. Basically a better and more doable bronya+sparkle tech
-either they majorly buff the ult’s cdmg to 80-100% (to completely powercreep sparkle) or just ditch and replace it with 100% target’s atk + 25% of sunday’s atk. Again, this is solely for more for synergy with sparkle as she lacks atk% buff.

You probably wondering why my suggestion are heavily leaning towards synergizing with sparkle, and thats because:

    1. to raise sparkle’s pull value, to make her not only restricted to hypercarry team but also to hypersummon team as well
    2. otherwise sunday would only worth it when paired with robin, and im so sick of this. No hate to robin herself but im tired of seeing her in every non break team. Plus, robin are meant for teams that can dish out high frequency attacks, using her in hypersummon team like JY team would be wasting her potential

    • At the cost of the actual dedicated hyper summon support not being good at its job? hell no.

Sparkle has her own role in supporting hyper summon team which what sparkle do best: Providing buff that can last when the summon attack and SP generator as currently most summoner unit need to use their skill as it’s the core to their summoned unit mechanic i.e.: JY’s LL stack and Lingsha FY AV.

If you want to nerf Sunday in any way to make room for sparkle, then nerf his ability to also generate SP which is once every 3 turn sp neutral and 2x skill and/or ult sp generator, either one of those.
