| Character Details | Styxia, the coastal city of intoxication and dreams, where echoes of old songs still drift among the waves. Helektra, Daughter of the Sea, Chrysos Heir who cleanses the Ocean's Coreflame, dispels the murky undercurrents and orchestrates a banquet of revelry for the heroes beyond the sky. The show must go on. Even if hope is as fragile as bubbles, the waves will keep surging forward. |
| Character Story: Part I | When sunlight filtered down through the surface, the sea's breath shimmered with a kaleidoscope of colors. That was the merriest time of day for the sirens. "♫ Plop ♫" "♫ Pika ♫" "♫ Bo-pom ♫" The siren princess chased bubbles in delight. Her favorite moment was when one paused on her nose, just before it popped and rippled a burst of color across the water. Amid coral stretching for miles, the sea sirens sang. The pearls there sparkled like stars, perfect ornaments for a bowstring. Music flowed from Helektra's fingers like a gentle current, brushing past companions basking in the joy of honey brew. "♫ Look, on that bright and bustling ship, how happy the humans must be. ♫" "♫ You long for the one you saved as his voice still echoes in your soul. ♫" "♫ Noble princess, carefree Helektra, where will you go? To the frigid northern sea, or the boundless world of men? ♫" The drunken sirens gathered around her, curiosity swaying and curling like seaweed. "♫ The world above is loud, the pole too cold... ♫" She brushed a bubble and shook her head with a smile: "♫ I'll stay where songs still carry... ♫" But soon, a horn of warning echoed from the deep, cutting the revelry short. The sirens followed Helektra into the depths, as the Queen of the Ocean addressed her people... "♫ Dark tides will taint our crystal currents, so we shall summon the sacred waves, draw the filth into the Grand Chalice, until Strife shines back against the black tide... ♫" "♫ Children of the sea, have you chosen your course? When the black tide recedes, go to Styxia. There, people on the land will raise their glasses in your honor! ♫" Day after day, Helektra led the sirens through the darkening sea, washing away the corrupted undercurrents. "♫ Don't give up, my friends, not until we've drowned ourselves in triumph. ♫" "♫ Don't forget, my friends, we'll swim toward the distant place. ♫" "♫ Onward, my friends, vibrant hope is stirring the air. ♫" And day after day, Helektra sang. As a Titankin, she knew guarding these waters was the fate written into her very soul... Helektra dove into the abyss, her song fading until it became the lone light left in the dark ocean. * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part II | The once-lush coral reef had become a graveyard of lifeless stone. The first time she drove her blade into the Black Tide Creature, her hands trembled ever so slightly. The hundredth time she faced a corrupted former friend, her dull strings could slice through flesh without hesitation. The thousandth, the ten thousandth... Pearls from her instrument scattered over the sea, and the deep water had turned to blood... In the silent ruins of that forgotten palace, only Helektra remained at her solitary feast. "♫ The people on the land will throw feasts that never end, to honor our sacrifice... ♫" The mournful song echoed through the sea as the Titan of Strife took up the fight against black tide. And for the first time, Helektra rose from the dark waters with joy in her heart. She adorned her face with pearls. Her tail split into legs. The seafoam on her body became a gown. The crashing tide no longer roared over her head, but whimpered beneath her feet. Seabirds cried overhead in chilling tones. The waves stilled for a moment, then rolled away again. As if the dream had popped like a bubble and never truly existed. She bore each step toward the Promised Land of Styxia with searing pain, like walking on knives... The land reeked of pungent air as corpses piled high. Conflict and fire ravaged every corner... But the feast promised by the gods was nowhere to be found. "I... Hy...si..." Her voice rasped in the polluted air. She had tried to learn the language of humans, but their noisy, jagged words made it impossible to sing as she once did. So, she slowly chose silence over speech. "A blade that would never rust," "A melody of cruelty"... What accompanied her day after day were the twangs that pierced flesh, and the cries of lives bleeding out... They said the swordmaster from the sea could play like no other, yet she stayed distant and mute, never revealing what lay in her heart. She had seen many hands reach out to her. Some sought to erase her, others offered help. They had lit one flame after another, only to let each flicker out. "Hysilens, where are you headed?" She couldn't answer. Her old instrument had long become two blades, with only sharp requiems now echoing from the strings. She had once wished someone might understand the longing within her song, but came to realize that the human world was no different from the lonely deep sea. Everyone was just another lost fish, blindly swimming toward the light. * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part III | "Hysilens, follow me. I will grant you everything you seek." The voice, loud and clear despite the small frame it came from, left a deep impression. But doubt lingered in her heart: "And when... will her light go out?" But this flame burned like sunlight piercing the deep sea, brighter and steadier with every passing moment. She watched the blue blaze fight battle after battle, always emerging victorious. She saw waves rise like wildfire, saw the Gladius roar through wind and sea, swallowing every storm of carnage like a whale shark. She heard the thundering heartbeat, the pounding drums of war, the footsteps like falling rain, the sorrow swelling like a tide. The pure, song-like voice of the heart flowed through the blood of the Chrysos Heir, stirring the long-sealed strings in her mind. The feast Imperator had promised was drawing near. Young weaver whispered to the children at their side, wondering aloud if the cold, distant Gladius would grace them with her presence. Amidst the crowd's exclamations, the weaver rose on her tiptoes, holding her breath to capture the moment in full. Her gown, gilded and flowing, brushed the tiles like sunlight glinting on waves. And under candlelight and silver lanterns, people saw again the shimmer of the sea. "She answered my wish and sang to us of the sea bays the world had long forgotten." When the monarch finished speaking, the orchestra lit up. Light and shadows danced before her eyes, rippling like waves. Music rose with the bubbles in their cups, and in the swell of the crowd, she found her voice was no longer echoing in vain. The duel between Labienus and Seneca struck like crisp drumbeats. Verginia's hidden meanings pulsed through her verses. Tribios laughed, and the music gained a playful countermelody. Aglaea leapt into motion, her dance steps weaving the perfect harmony... "After this battle is won, Dux Gladiorum, is there anything you desire?" Even the composed monarch seemed slightly tipsy. She took a sip of honey brew, whispering to the monarch, her laughter dancing in the corner of the banquet. How bright it was here. How lovely it sounded. The world spun on, with the clink of glasses, the soft rattle of ice. The long-silent siren sang again, her voice spilling like the honey brew... "♫ The candlelight burns so bright at this feast. A brand-new sea. It sways between the clinking of our cups... ♫" * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part IV | She had once believed the Flame-Chase was the eternal celebration she had always searched for. But as the journey wore on and more was lost, even that shining light shattered like seafoam. She had been the Imperator's sharpest blade, her sword always flowing with blood. But when the Imperator's molten gold blood dripped onto her fingertips, she suddenly felt herself sinking again back into that lonely, silent sea. "Heh, why... did I snuff out the very flame I swam toward with my own hand..." For a thousand painful years, she had fled from those dazzling bubbles of memory, but now those long-burst fragments clung to her like swaying seaweed, impossible to shake loose. "Click." A chess piece lands on the board. Despite her perfect composure, the sovereign's crown of flames reveals what she won't, dancing between serenity and fierce intensity. "I never learned how to play." "Then I'll teach you." She picks up a piece with unpracticed fingers. Just another battleground, she thinks to herself. "Click." Suddenly, vibrant blue flames warm the air around her like hot springs. She moves chess pieces without much thought and asks: "If they're bound to disappear from the board, why bother moving forward at all?" "Click." The sovereign takes a sip of honey brew, stretches her arms with satisfaction, and sighs with pleasure: "Isn't the journey forward fulfilling enough on its own?" ... After a millennium of waiting, she forged new paths for the Flame-Chase, though she knew they wouldn't be the final destination. "What a fish truly needs is simply a sea to call home..." As a fragment of her memories unfolds, she walks toward clear ocean waters. ♫ Pop ♫, ♫ Fizz ♫, ♫ Splash ♫... Bubbles of every color mirror bygone years, forming and bursting, bursting and forming. "The ocean's dearest, do you have a wish?" "Hysilens, where are you headed?" "Dux Gladiorum, what do you seek?" ... Homeland, revelry, the Flame-Chase... each once brilliant in her life, yet all quickly fizzing out like transient foam... Only a sigh lingers across the sky. From the beginning till the end, this was all she had, in both the mortal realm and ocean depths, nothing but the fleeting traces of bubbles. "But still... how beautiful they are..." "♫...♫" "♫...♫" "♫...♫" The dawn of Amphoreus approaches. Before the final bubble bursts, she smiles, as if she has already sung everything her heart had to express beyond words. * Unlocked at Character Level |

As much as I look forward to Hysilens, I do think there are some flaws in this kit. The EHR needed for max buff is too high, considering her base chance 100% already. Couple traces could easily be put together and have something else to truly buff DoT. Not saying that she doesn’t, but I think it could be better easily.
‘While Hysilens is on the field, the DoT dealt by ally targets becomes 124% of the original value.’
I’m wondering how this is implemented – reads like true damage without the shenanigans (if you were to do 100k, you’ll now do 124k, no questions asked), or increasing base multipliers (100%ATK DoT becomes 124% of ATK)
It’s probably like Skirk’s and Neuv’s passives, a base damage buff. Looks like there are no Shenhe-esque supports in HSR (maybe og Tingyun?) so far, so we don’t have to worry about multiplier shenanigans… yet.
Hysilens got Buffed (mostly).
Her E1 became Base Kit, that is a very important change. Awesome!
(We shall see if the Buffs she got will be kept through the rest of the Beta phases.)
Never seen you this slightly happier before, but at least we got another DoT detonation ability since Kafka, albeit much stronger.
Saw a comment a while back on how adding another DoT detonation character would make Kafka useless or something. Dunno who said it, but they said it. And look at now.
This change on Hysilens was amazing, I really hope they keep it or even maybe buff in Beta 4 and 5.
Can someone tell me if I am just reading this wrong because from my understanding: In Hysilens’s ult zone enemies take 80% phys DoT for for every dot that damages them. So if there are 8 different DoTs on an enemy they take 8 x 80% dmg, correct? And since this can be triggered during both enemy and ally’s turn Kafka should be able to trigger that DoT as well. That would mean with the zone active and 4 talent dots from Hysilens, 2 Shocks from Kafka and 1 wind sheer (Arcana) from BS, this would be 7 * 80% + 4 * 25% = 660% (740% with break dot) DoT from Hysilens alone, every time an enemy takes a turn/Kafka triggers them and Kafka can trigger them a lot more often now.
To me this sounds pretty good considering Hysilens has 100% uptime on her zone and reduces enemy def + vulnerability debuff
That is exactly my understanding.
that’s correct yea
how is she for acheron teams? I dont have jiaqou or E2 cause my luck is ass but I have cipher/sw. would replacing one of those two for hysilens be any worth it
She’s got 25% Def Shred and 20% vuln. Her debuff application on other ally attacks would be beneficial… if your other allies weren’t already doing the same thing. Maybe she’ll get Acheron’s ult up a smidge sooner since she’ll help sustain apply debuffs, but that’s not going to offset her weaker debuffs.
I don’t think she is worth it for acheron teams, maybe with eidolons but at that point make a dot team instead.
Hysilens could easily be OP, She could have easily save DoT.
HoYo decided not to do that.
Crit DoT Enabler? Nah, just normal DoT.
400% Bleed DoT like in DU Boon? Nah, just 25% Bleed DoT instead.
Players who think DoT is bad because this is a Turn Based Combat game have no idea what they are talking about.
DoT in HSR could be really OP.
HoYo doesn’t want to do that. Yet. Maybe never will.
>400% Bleed DoT like in DU Boon? Nah, just 25% Bleed DoT instead.
Need to re-read her kit bro. Every single DoT that goes off when her ult is up, triggers an 80% Bleed, with a cap of 8.
4 personal DoTs for a total of 100%
100%+(4×80%)=420% – we’re already higher than the 400% in DU.
580% with Kafka (E0S0) and BS…
I like her animations but i’m unsure if i’ll be pulling for her or not since i may not have a good team for her (started playing mid October 2024) and i’m mostly pulling for sustain/support characters right now.
If you like DoT and don’t care much about clearing challenges (MoC etc) just go for it. Your enjoyment is above meta, but if you want to be prepared for them, then i suggest at least someone like Kafka with her.
This is so disheartening. I really hope something comes in V2/V3 because atm she is nothing more than a BS side grade. You’re better of getting her LC for BS and calling it a day than spending 150 pulls to get someone who’s like not even 10% better overall. It’s even worse when the calcs say that triple DoT isn’t even better than double DoT with Robin/RM.
DoT waiting over a year for this while struggling to keep up only a few patch’s after BS release has got to be the saddest thing in the games history.
I don’t normally fall in line with the doomposting, but idk… this just makes me sad. So far the only real buff to DoT was Kafka’s buff this patch. Replacing BS/Robin/RM for Hysilens won’t even net you a single cycle upgrade and if it’s going to take over a year again for the next unit that may very well also be a side grade, DoT is permanently in the dirt.
Actually, you’re better off waiting for a BS rerun and getting her E1. As E1 BS is actually better than E0 Hysilens…
I hope this post ages badly, i really do. I was so looking forward to FINALLY building the DoT team that i’ve wanted since 1.X but rn it looks like yet another skip from me. How long has it been since a new unit failed to make it into the tier 0/0.5 category.
This comes after being hyped after first seeing her kit and numbers, only for it to swindle quickly after watching several showcases and seeing several calcs.
I do not understand why is HoYo keeping DoT in the dust.
Don’t they wanna sell multiple viable arctypes so players spend even more money, or the game attracts even more players by giving them more options?
Hysilens’ design and animations are really good.
Why spend so much money and time on a character if they gonna give her a Mid Kit?
Why is HoYo so bad at ballancing character’s power level in HSR?
They are either Broken OP, or Mid AF.
DoT has been in the dirt for so long, I had high hopes for Hysilens.
She was suppose to save DoT, not repeat past mistakes!
So at this point I belive this is 100% intentional from HoYo.
I just don’t understand why.
Sadly Hysilens is more a side grade than an actual upgrade to the dot team, if you already have Kafka/Swan/Robin(or Tribbie) she I’ll not replace the harmonies, specially if you already have E1 or those, she CAN replace Blackswan, but it’s not like insane difference tbh.
And like if you already have robin or tribbie at E0, maybe it would be even more worth to get an eidolon of those rather than pulling for hysilens, since they have more team options being very versatile for your account, as pulling for a very niche character (hysilens) and getting little value, (yes she/dot I’ll be very strong at it release, but in next patches…?)
If you have Kafka but no swan, then I think she would be a good upgrade to your account, and you likely wont need to pull swan anymore.
If there is one thing I love, its that the doom posters haven’t changed. Still going about their daily business of heavily downplaying a character for no good reason
And sadly it will never change.
I am a huge DoT fan, and some are deserved. Hysilens is really not the DoT gamechanger as many expected, including myself. I am sure she will help elevate DoT in general, but it will not make it crazy good. How long has it been since DoT got amazing supports/dps, that you went “we are so back”? Just look at any other path and the units they got so far, compare the performance. There is no reason for one path to perform underwhelming and have to put X4 the effort other paths do, while rest get amazing niche/universal units to carry them to next height. Let’s not cope and be realistic for once, I am so sick of hearing “use RM”, no I want a proper DoT unit to finally break the DoT ceiling and not be hyper balanced for once.
