Character DetailsAidonia, the snowy land that respects and worships death, has already sunken into sweet slumber.
O Castorice, daughter of the River of Souls, the Chrysos Heir in search of the Coreflame of "Death," set forth! Guard the lament of the souls in this world, and embrace the solitude of destiny.
— Life and death is a journey. When a butterfly rests on that dead branch, the withered will be reborn again.
Character Story: Part IAidonia's snow had always been there for as long as she could remember. It was as if time had been frozen in this forlorn white ground.
When she was a child, she once asked Amunet what snow was. Amunet said snow is all the emotions of the mortal world.

She was always in a trance as she stared at the people in the city.
The short knight came for training in front of the temple doors every day. The middle-aged priest occasionally dozed off under her high tower. The ascetic scholars distributed Antila flower biscuits to the children.
The children pushed and shoved as they engaged in a snowball fight in the distance, their laughter falling to her heart like ripe fruits.
From the tower, she tried but failed to differentiate their faces.

Holy Maiden — Yet everyone called her that when she appeared before the people, and nobody dared to look her in the eye.
She mustered the courage to move closer, but they stepped back, lowering their eyes even more. She still couldn't see any of their faces.

Until they were standing at death's door — the short knight suffered grievous wounds in battle, the middle-aged priest suffered from years of illness, and the ascetic scholar was infected by the patients they treated. At that moment, she was the closest to them.
Life was no longer an agonizing struggle, but turning at her fingertips into flower petals in the wind.
When she finally had the chance to look at their faces, she turned away instead, for she could not bear to look.

"Some hands were born to sow plants, some were born to govern... Yours carrying out the fated duty of parting."
Amunet's words echoed in her ears. She once wondered what her hands could possibly leave behind.
When she came to her senses, she was looking at an incomplete ice sculpture in her hands — Young warriors wielding their weapons, mothers embracing their children who were going to war, couples cradling each other's faces with longing...
Those people are no longer around.
But this sort of thing will still happen again and again in the land covered by the snowstorm... and lands beyond the snowstorm.

She finally understood that even the snow in Aidonia will melt, just as everything must walk into Death's embrace.

"Nikolaos who loved to smile, the kind Ilana
And Crito, who was as silent as the wind...
At night, I held up those
Forgotten names and forlorn memories,
And turned the sorrows of the day
into the boiling heat immersed in snow.
..."

— A poem titled "Aidonia" written by the girl

* Unlocked at Character Level 20
Character Story: Part IIThe day she left Aidonia, she embarked on a journey to meet Thanatos, a journey with an unknown destination.

She repelled the creations of the black tide, and saved declining villages. She was no longer the Maiden of War from Aidonia, but she still kept her distance from others deliberately, hiding her own hands. Yet, she was no match for the children's sparkling eyes. When she first picked up the needle and thread, she fulfilled a child's final wish to touch a plush toy.
In the battlefield engulfed by death, she wrote letters back to the grieving families of the warriors who could not return home. She even learned from a prideful poet, and used poems to see off the dead...
"Death is an unavoidable inevitability," "Death is a warrior's honor," "Death is merely a walk out of time." On that arduous journey, she heard plenty of discussions, some direct, some poetic. Yet, these answers were like a breeze that blew over the water surface, never reaching the depths of her heart.

"Then... someone said, that dawn enveloped the holy city's overflowing hope, perhaps there, I can also..."
The girl hesitated.
"Don't worry, it's fine if you don't want to talk about it now. Okhema welcomes you!"The red-haired girl served her a cup of hot tea.
The golden-haired lady examined the girl's gloves with interest—
"Such aesthetically designed accessory, did you also learn to make it during your travels?"
She shyly interlocked her fingers.
"Yes, I wanted... farewells to be more formal."

The sunlight in Okhema was parching and radiant, the unending announcement from the Dawn Device promised endless tomorrows.

Starting from that small cabin, she carefully began her second life.
The originally empty room was decorated with bits and pieces of her daily life, felt plush toys, chimera pillows, and thick collections of poems. They were no longer symbols of tragedies, but gifts, memorials, and blessings—
The habits she once had for the dead were able to give birth to warmth and strength for the first time, under Okhema's sunlight.

"The scenery outside this window
always looks the same.
Brilliant sunlight, gentle ripples.
I blew off the snow on my hands,
so that they wouldn't be too cold, for spring was far too near.
..."

— Written by a girl, a poem titled "Spring"

* Unlocked at Character Level 40
Character Story: Part IIIShe knew her destination was not the same as her Flame-Chase companions, but she gradually began to find her own fleeting moments of warmth.
As the golden thread gently guided her, she clumsily danced with others for the first time. In that garden teeming with life, she made fresh dried flowers together with Hyacine. And on the day she graduated from the Grove, sunlight draped over her dress, casting scattered shadows that resembled butterfly wings...

Those moments that may seem insignificant to others were already firewood for her to live through her lonely and cold years.
She craved warmth so much, but also contained her anticipation. Perhaps it was because the Flame-Chase Journey is filled with continuous loss, or perhaps because she didn't want to experience cruel misery... Just like that nightmare that had clung to her for the longest time, repeating itself again and again—

The sun set in Kephale's palm, the blood-colored dusk engulfed the dawn of the holy city.
The black tide surged, and in the dead silent bath, the Weaver of Gold embraced her for the first time. Only the weaver's tired sigh remained in the sea of flowers.
"My 'love' will not vanish because of death."
"See you tomorrow, Cas~" The shabby messenger turned into a plush toy and collapsed in her arms, barely breathing.
She tried to grasp those scattering petals, but that agile thief caught her hand, giving her the last reward.
"Do me a favor, just this once. So what if we cheat death?"
The sky priest lowered her eyes and disappeared as she leaned on the girl's shoulder. The blood-soaked crown prince closed his eyes and awaited her execution. The warrior wept tears of blood, his armor broken. The sage from the Grove smiled and invited her to be the final witness.
At the end of the dream, she saw an interstellar visitor kneel and fall over under the starry sky, proving her most terrifying assumption...

"Cassie, get a bit more rest."
In the Twilight Courtyard's hypnosis treatment room, the doctor's eyes were filled with concern.
She wiped off the sweat on her forehead as if she had made a determined decision.
"No. I'll do everything I can, so that nightmare won't ever come true..."

"The Flame-Chasing heroes initially walked different paths
We were attracted to each other because of our weak lights.
Like moths that endured searing pain
We do not fly forth because we see hope
But because we only see hope when we flew
..."

Character Story: Part IV"Maybe... this will be my last day in Okhema."
At the end of a bitter journey, she finally found the clues about the nether realm. Before she headed to the place of no return, she wanted to look carefully at the world again.

That was the Chrysos Heir's bath.
She remembered how Aglaea once, in the thick steam, gave her a pair of gloves that she had carefully fixed.
"Cas, you've changed quite a lot, compared to the first time we met."
She touched the beautiful patterns on the gloves in surprise, and the usually indifferent leader smiled as she winked at her.
"Even the present me can see your scorching heart beneath the frigid cold..."

That was the serene garden behind the house, shaped like how it looked in her dreams.
In that chaotic dream, she often met her other self. They tilled and nurtured the garden together, until the barren soil transformed into a lush ocean of flowers.
"I wish that I can still sow seeds of hope like this in the future."

That was the monument she erected for the lives once lost at her fingertips.
From the deceased in Aidonia, to the Chrysos Heirs in the Flame-Chase Journey... Over a thousand years, she tried to remember everyone's name and past.
"If someone still remembers, they are not truly dead."

That was where she first met Trailblazer.
Encounters are such miraculous things, she thought. The streets that she was so familiar with in the past had gained a special meaning because of someone else.
"Miss(Mister), with my own hands, I will definitely bring you..."

As the Entry Hour draws near, the time for the promised departure is also nigh.
Under the blazing sunlight, she made her first and last wish: With the freezing and arduous life as a beginning, she will write with her(him)—

A poem titled "Castorice," which ends with a true embrace.

  1. People lost their shit so much about her garbage global passive, yet ignored Mydei being downright immortal in gameplay. Which completely trivializes any sort of content in which getting wiped or one shot might be an issue. Go play something like max DU or G&G with Castorice and Mydei and see who will have far more braindead time out of the two. Castorice who can only revive once and can only make her team immortal as long as her dragon is on the field (her dragon’s HP gets drained and forces it to automatically explode if someone in part is at 1 HP and they keep getting hit), or a guy who literally just can’t die!
You have to go out of your way to try and kill Mydei because he is Castorice’s passive without limit. His only limit is that he stays in his auto-mode state, which is the easiest thing ever to have permanent uptime on. Meaning, he literally can’t die. All Mydei needs in bullshit content like SU modes is someone/something that can heal and he never dies. Meanwhile, Castorice can get screwed over easily, even with best blessings picked as her one time revive won’t matter if enemies keep hitting hard and her other talent to keep team alive at 1 HP, not allow them to die, as long as her dragon is present will also be near useless when enemies keep hitting to hard which causes her dragon to prematurely explode. Meaning, you need to sacrifice Castorice’s dps in modes as these to try and keep her dragon alive as much as possible if you want to abuse her “cheat codes” and even then it won’t matter as enemies in these modes will keep forcing the dragon to explode. Mydei on another hand…….. Yup. Pretty much “……..” this. He gets killed? He comes back. Killed again? Here comes Johnny again. Again. Yup, here again. So, it doesn’t matter if whole team gets wiped because Mydei himself will refuse to die, which will make him clear content, even with most ass blessings possible.

    -from someone who has both

“b-b-but she gives this thing to whole account” and this thing is barely useful to whole account. The only ones who would care about this are sustainless 0 cyclers, but the issue is that her revive has a drawback that one must heal or shield themselves after revive, or else it’s back to grave with them (provided they don’t get killed by enemy again). In another words, it’s useless to only people who would care about this. To average player who has well built teams, this won’t matter at all due to not drying, and for the only game modes that hit hard enough to make this relevant, it’s way worse compared to Mydei’s almost infinite revives as it has way too many drawbacks (her dragon too) compared to a guy who just keeps coming back from the dead as long as he is in that berserk state of his (which is near permanent state once he activates it).

I can understand precedent concerns, but some people I saw in regards to this topic completely blow out of proportion just how useful her whole global passive even is. Especially when nobody says a peep about Mydei who is far bigger cheat code than her if you don’t want to worry about drying even in hardest modes possible. Nobody bitched about “health of the game” when this came to pass. Let us not go into V4 Cipher now who is x100 times worse for “health of the game” than Castorice herself.

“b-b-but global passive” come and cry about it when one of your may-may characters comes out, with passives that you keep seeing in your dreams only. Right now, it’s just funny to me how everyone pretends she somehow breaks the balance of the game far more than the unit that came before her (as far as “cheat code” goes), or unit after her that puts every weakness implant because why the fuck not, healer girl that does more damage than some of dps, or a kitty-cat girl that makes Acheron, Topaz, and Jiaoqiu look like clowns in her V4 as she does all of their jobs better. Even harmony units look funny compared to her because none of them increases damage as much as she does now. Feixiao looks like clown too because kitty can achieve her numbers (better) on ST and completely off-element as well. Again, nobody is seen crying about her and how unhealthy this is, but Castorice and her mid ass passive was where you all cried? lol

  3. as a new player who wishes to clear endgame content (MoC, pure fiction, and apocalypse), should I go for Mydei, Castorice, Anaxa, or save? Currently i have absolutely zero limited five star units.

reading the comment section here really made me rethink my idea of spending all my jades on castorice (considering that i cannot afford her lc and her being un-f2p-friendly). I don’t want to spend all my pulls for a character that was set up to fail from the very start 🙁

    • Please don’t buy into the doomposting. One of Castorices best teams is Her, Remembrance MC, Pela, and Gallagher. All 3 others are completely free. The only big upgrade to this would be Tribbie. So she certainly isn’t set up to fail.

However, for new players, I can only advise to get supports over DPS characters. It’ll make for a stronger account in the long run.

Most importantly though, pull who you like most. While it’s a lot of work, people have cleared all the endgame modes with fully F2P teams. Yes even the recent outrages Hoolay and Nikador.

    • Anaxa has a better Pull value for new Players because of many things he can provide for most Team compositions.
Support Characters have a longer lifespan, even when they are Sub-DPS.
Anaxa can be used as a Main DPS but he shines more as a Sub-DPS and Support.

For a new Account, Anaxa’s Weakness Implant (Every Element) can be very useful and he can also make all the enemies lose a Turn.
If he is the only Erudition in the Team then he Buffs his own DMG.
If there is another Erudition in the Team he Buffs the whole Team’s DMG.

I completely understand if someone will Pull for Castorice regardless, because she is a powerful DPS and has multiple F2P Team mate options like RMC from story content, and Gallagher from Castorice’s Banner will most likely join the new players account while pulling for Castorice. (Hopefully minimum E2 Gallagher.)
Sadly it is true that Castorice has no F2P Light Cone options that would come close to her Signature LC.
(Anaxa will be able to use the Event LC we gonna get in the 3.2 Event, but there are other options for him aswell.)

Castorice has truly awesome animations, and I like that she can be played in multiple ways.
I like that it requires thinking to play her well and make the best of her power.

Pull for Characters you really like.
Power Creep for Main DPS characters is really fast in HSR.
Most Main DPS Characters only live for 6 Months as E0S0.

    • un f2p friendly? Where did you get that? 2 of her BiS rn are free units, and her really only good eidolon is E2. you dont even need her sig LC either to make he super powerful. You have the wrong idea. She isn’t setup to fail, she’s setup to SUCCEED. Her BiS aren’t out yet, and probably wont be for a hot minute. Hyacine is 3.3, but im sure Castorice is gonna get a more dedicated support at some point, like how Acheron got Jaiqiou.

Don’t buy into all the doomposting and people being mad that she exists. Pull for who you like and use your own judgement. If you’re a new player, I also wouldn’t focus on endgame yet. I’ve been playing for over a year, and even still I struggle to clear stage 12 of the endgame content. (my luck is bad yes, and I don’t get much units, but thats besides the point.) Having the teams, builds, and skill to clear the endgame content is gonna take a few months to develop at least.

    • Castoria is a very difficult character for a newbie. If pull her there will be need to heavily invest and get her signature cone at any cost since she lose a lot of effectiveness without it. In addition, in the next patch there will be need to pull out Hyacine as the best character to help her. On top of that, her HP mechanic limits her future quite a bit in the long run.
It’s only worth pull her out based on the Waifu factor, otherwise it’s better to get Midei with his cone right now or The Herta, who is extremely versatile at low cost and can get a rerun in future patches. Can also look out for Anaxa, which will allow to easily close challenges where need to pierce toughness of enemies and will get good light cone for free in next patch.

      • How do her HP mechanics limit her future, like at all? Hyacine/Tribbie/Mydei are both proof that they aren’t just going to drop HP drain mechanics, as well as more HP artifacts being released, having supports with general DMG/Crit/RES PEN/True DMG buffs like HarmonyMC/Tribbie/Sunday/Ruan Mei/etc, and debuffers with AoE DMG Taken/DEF Shred/RES Shred like Anaxa/Jiaoquo/Lingsha/Pela are all proof that HP scaling isn’t going anywhere. Even the fact that Mydei actually benefits from her HP drain shows that the synergies similar to Blade/Jingliu are still an aspect of the game.

Team wide HP drain has such a weird fear around it, when Hyacine is literally proof that sustain units will continue to account for HP drain characters lmao, even Luocha (who will be free!) giving team wide healing when any character deals any damage is enough to offset it. “Pull Mydei and his LC” is fine but “Pull Castorice and supports being released in future versions” leads to “limits her future, pull for waifu” somehow?

        • Just further confirmed everything that was said above. Look at the original post for starters. The person just started playing and is asking if he should pull a character, and some one saying Castoria good with any of the dozens of characters listed, which of course the person who’s only been in the game for a few days doesn’t have. Even to unlock RMC need to go through the main story which can take weeks of measured play. And some one also suggest a newbie to take Locha who is weaker than 4 star Galagher in Castoria teams according to independent tests, when any newbie is much more profitable to take Ruan Mei that can find good place at any team.

The HP characters themselves can indeed play in any modes with any characters, but the buffs in end game modes will go away sooner or later and the HP absorption meta won’t last long. In comparison to another character in the same patch, Anaxa can easily run most of the bosses in Apocalyptic Shadow and Pure Fiction without requiring a signature cone and losing a quarter of his power like Castoria. When Anaxa can be easy to play with multiple teams, Castoria requied to build one team around her. So Anaxa will remain a useful unit for any account for a longer time despite the temporary buffs. All in all, Castoria is a powerful damag dealer, but it’s not designed for newbies who will have to spend a lot for a few patches in a row for it to feel comfortable. And about scaling HP, just need have to remember Blade and his current place in actual game.

    • Anaxa might hold more value for a new player.

      Weakness Implant, Every Element.
Buffs Himself to have decent DMG if he is the only Erudition in the Team.
Buffs the whole Team’s DMG if there is another Erudition in the Team.
Make the enemies lose a Turn.

Anaxa is the type of character who holds more value than a Top DPS would like Castorice.
Currently most Top DPS characters need their Signature Light Cone if there are no other alternatives.
Castorice sadly has no other alternatives.
Currently Top DPS characters will get power crept in 6-8 months by another Top DPS.

Also, Castorice does not work with a completely F2P Team.
Remembrance Trailblazer is the only F2P Team mate for her.
F2P Healers like Natasha or Lynx will not be enough to play Castorice the way she was meant to be played.
Hyacine is coming very soon and she is the healer meant for Castorice.
Gallagher is also an option and he is on her Banner at least so that is good.
Luocha is also a very good option.
If you decide to Pull for Castorice, hopefully you get at least E2 Gallagher for her on her Banner.

I like Castorice a lot because there are multiple ways to play her.
Most of the time the player will have to think and make the right choices in combat to make the best of her.
For a new player that might not be the best.

why? not a big fan of remembrance units.
also don’t like the concept of global abilities. even if she didn’t have a global ability I’ll skip.
don’t see the reason why I should sink 1500$ to get e6s5 Acheron, just for her to struggle clearing endgame content in no less than 3 months.

  6. I am still very upset that appearently Sunday is not very good for Castorice Team.
Some people say Pela is better for her than Sunday!

    Tribbie + RMC.
    or RMC + Pela.
    or RMC + Ruan Mei.
and only then RMC + Sunday…

Sunday was suppose to be the best Support for Remembrance and other Summoner type characters and so far in 3.x only Aglaea is the Remembrance character Sunday is good for.

    I am very disappointed.

    • “Aglaea is the only Remembrance character Sunday is good for” my man, including Castorice, there are ONLY THREE Remembrance characters in total, with RMC being a SUPPORT and Castorice just benefitting more from supports with a different focus given an optimal environment.

Did you expect EVERY Remembrance character to have Sunday as their BiS support? Is him being pretty universally regarded as the BiS support for nearly every single DPS unit in the game not good enough for you because some characters benefit more from True DMG/RES PEN/DEF Shred than they do Sunday’s hypercarry SP Neutral DMG/Crit/Action Advance?

Not even to mention that he STILL IS A GOOD AND VIABLE SUPPORT FOR HER. Depending on Sunday’s investment, he could even be the better choice for her depending on the team she’s used in!

Aglaea is literally a different character that jumps up at least a full tier solely because of Sunday being PERFECT for her and you’re mad that the SECOND REMEMBRANCE CHARACTER TO BE RELEASED has Sunday in the “works well and is BiS in specific circumstances but other supports work better in general usage and are easier to use optimally” like ????
