  1. Tutorial may be better on Kafka due to her frequent follow-ups. Post-buff, I’ve achieved 1-turn ults on her (depending on enemy aggression).

Maybe it’d be better to stack ATK on Hysilens instead of speed/ERR, so you can finish fights before her 6 “free” ult turns run out.

  2. Is this the filler patch?

Hysilens – mid. Worst unit to have come in 3.X

Cerydra – good. But usable only for 1 or 2 units.

  5. I am not happy about Hysilens’ current Kit.

Investing backwards… Hysilesn 3.x + Kafka 1.x (even if Buffed).
Nah, that is just not the way HSR works.
Power Creep is way too fast in HSR to invest backwards.
(Not to mention Enemy HP inflation!)

Madam Herta can use old Erudition like Serval or Herta but her prefered upgrade is Anaxa.
Castorice can use older Healers like Luocha or Gallagher but her prefered upgrade is Hyacine.

So Hysilens Needing Kafka is a total joke!
Investing backwards is not a smart thing to do in HSR.

    • A few ways to think about it:
      1. Kafka’s kit is just ‘futureproof’ outside of getting a direct replacement. She could do 0 personal damage and would still be worth taking for the detonates alone.
      2. Kafka/JY/FF and the like are more likely to get support in the long run (looking at you JY) due to their immense popularity
      3. Age of a character has nothing to do with whether they’re a good investment or not, it’s all mechanics. Could’ve told you in 1.X that RM/Kafka/Bronya would continue to hold up for a very long time. If everything remains the same, eventually Cas and Therta will be in the position that Acheron/FF are in now, and after that they’ll be JL/Seele and up for needing buffs.
      4. Just wait for the next DoT unit 😉

  6. … ult uptime will be a bit of an issue. well, at least in fights that go longer than six turns (3 at start, 3 from first ult). she would need to skill spam after that, and doesn’t want to. hmm…

    • Looks like she really likes Kafka and/or Huohuo for teammates.

As Hysilens wants an EHR body, SPD boots, and ERR rope, this leaves the sphere as the only one allowing ATK mainstat. She needs 3600 ATK to max out the Styxia set, which Kafka’s passive will provide just enough in this setting. Without Kafka, with a 4* LC, you will need around 100% ATK from substats and LC passives (which currently only include It’s Showtime)… not impossible, just quite difficult. Kafka also approximately doubles her damage via detonation.

Huohuo grants teamwide ATK buff and restores 20%(=26 energy for Hysilens) for teammates, who generally like their ults, being a DoT team; with a ERR rope this can allow Hysilens 1 or 2 basics per ult, depending on enemy aggressiveness. DoT teams prefer fast enemies anyway, and Hysilens’ ult having ATK shred provides some defence (kinda) against that.
Luckily as Hysilens’ ult shreds DEF, she can use Tutorial, which provides at least 32 energy per ult, and scales with enemy count. This results in similar (slightly better) energy condition as with Huohuo only.
With both Huohuo and Tutorial you can get away with basic spam; ERR rope ensures 3-turn ults, while without it Hysilens will need to get hit once, or be against 2+ enemies. I think ERR rope is still recommended, since Huohuo might not have her ult up for every Hysilens ult.

  7. I already have Kafka, but I don’t have Black Swan
I was hoping Hysilens could complete my DOT team, but if she ends up being just a support that only works if you already have a strong DOT carry, then I’m not sure she’s worth the investment

    • If I’m reading the kit right, then she’s not a support – her individual DoTs are puny, and still relatively weak when added up, but whenever they go off, they’re adding 80%ATK (at rank 10) PER DoT.
That’s 320% by herself (with all her DoTs up), not including the 100-200% of her DoT damage (unsure if windshear stacks)
With Kafka that’s 400% every detonation

Full premium DoT team is going to be BS AND Hysilens DPSing with Kafka ‘supporting’ (unless supports outweigh BS, kinda doubtful). But it’s fine if you don’t have BS, BS benefits more from Hysilens than the other way around.

    • how im reading it. her personal Dot itself is very low. but her main drive is her Ult which is a secondary trigger which multiplies per Dot. she herself already brings in 5 potential triggers (max trigger is 8). which is applied on any attack made by the team.
next to that she brings in vulnerability and def shred.
her effective Dot. is that low number of her talent x5. plus her ult x8
at lvl 13 thats (28.75×5 + 92×8=879.75% atk as dot) dunno how stacks would works from her talent. but this is all at 1 stack.

buffed kafka does something no other character currently can right now. and that is manually trigger Dot. so she is pretty essential to any Dot team. and the other thing is. hysilens ult isnt actually a Dot. just triggered by it. meaning it by passes the reduction from Kafka`s manual trigger.

      • Are you getting 5 from bleed/windshear/burn/shock and ult effect itself?

Also, every single 4* DoT unit can detonate:
        >Gwen ult
        >Luka Enh Basic
        >Sampo E4
Would be funny if Sampo’s detonate acted independently for each bounce.

    • 25% per dot is low, but don’t forget her ult field does an additional 100% bleed dot hit for every instance of dot damage and her ult has basically permanent uptime because of her technique. So realistically she can do ~500% mv in a single dot detonation from kafka
