| Character Story: Part I | Hyperborea, the Northern Empire. A frigid realm where ambition burns without end. Since the childless sovereign fell, the throne sits vacant while the empire tears itself apart in endless civil strife. Refugees who lost their homes resort to begging to survive. A wounded girl with unusual blue hair stands out starkly against the pristine snow. "Only the royal family blessed by Talanton possesses such flame-like blue hair, and only the chosen ones have golden blood flowing through their veins..." An ambitious aristocrat takes in the beggar girl simply from just a passing glance, and begins spreading rumors of a lost princess. They lead her onto a magnificent high stage where the aristocrat raises her arm high. From her pricked fingertip drips blood as golden as dawn itself. The crowd below grows wild with excitement, and that heated anticipation seemingly sets her ablaze as well. "From this day forward, you are Princess 'Cerydra'." The aristocrat leads her into the palace, where she's dressed in ornate, heavy garments. "Cery...dra?" A single moment of hesitation earns her a slap so sharp it nearly brings tears to her eyes. "I am... I am... Cery...dra..." "I am Cerydra." "I am her." She controls her trembling as distant screams fade away. — Those were the screams of the previous princess. She studies royal etiquette daily until the tight corset no longer causes pain, until she can confidently deliver speeches... "As the princess is still young, I shall serve as regent and oversee the Hyperborean Empire's affairs." The aristocrat gathers support in her name while seizing royal authority. "She's merely a pawn we can discard, but she plays her role well enough to keep around." In the shadows, the new regent exchanges knowing smirks with the chancellor. Endless days in captivity blur together as the young "princess" reluctantly abandons the distant shimmer of stars to focus on her chessboard. This is the game for her self-preservation. "Proud princess. Those eyes of yours, always watching, always hiding... They are like..." "Like what?" With barely any effort, she will soon reach the border of the chessboard. "Like a flame soon to ignite..." With a bittersweet smile, her teacher places down the final chess piece. After thousands of matches, there's no longer a chess strategy the princess has not mastered. * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part II | The imperial maids and guards have no power or status, yet they become the ever-present eyes throughout the shifting court. She wins them with favors, gathers intelligence, and weaves a complex web of strategies. Old aristocrats who despise the new king secretly plot rebellion, placing assassins among the royal guards. She plays the willing conspirator while secretly positioning her "knights" who will do the dirty work. The empire's citizens revere her fabricated bloodline, so she extends charity to the elderly and supports the vulnerable. Her rising reputation wins them over, making them into "rooks" who will dominate the board. "Meet me in my tent at the third quint of Curtain-Fall Hour. Urgent matters to discuss in private, Your loyal chancellor." As the sealed note finds its way to her, she knows her essential "bishop" has entered play, with each courtier now conspiring in pursuit of their covert desire for military expansion. Candlelight dances across the tent, casting shadows of deceit. The chancellor wears a smile as hollow as a faded portrait. "The northern territories share nothing with the south's gentle warmth." He points to the map sprawled before them, "Lingering here will be Hyperborea's undoing. I've secured the continent's most formidable mercenaries. The regent requests that you personally lead the campaign..." She knows they see her as expendable, ready to blame her for any failure that might occur. But she's waited far too long. Without a daring gamble, how could she ever hope to turn the tables? Crossing the mountains of Epos, she seizes the opportunity when Loukas rises in rebellion. She crushes their forces while recruiting the Chrysos General Fortunado to her side, winning the army's loyalty. City after city falls as Hyperborean armies advance like an unstoppable blaze. The blue-haired girl raises her banner, sending thundering hooves toward her chosen targets. She watches her army build up, knowing her final "pawns" are positioned for checkmate. On that dark, snowy night, the triumphant princess rides a silver-white steed, leading her forces through the capital gates to proclaim new edicts... "From this day forward, I shall bring justice to Hyperborea!" They drag the regent "king" who wears the false crown from his chambers, while his loyalists who refuse to bend find only soldiers' steel awaiting them. "She... she is not Cerydra!" From her throne of judgment, she draws her blade across her palm and golden blood trickles down as the crowd mocks him, drowning the "king" in despair. "This regent 'king' has governed with depravity, plunging the empire into chaos. By the authority of the Law, I hereby sentence you..." In the bitter northern winds, her blue hair dances wildly, blazing like fire against the pale sky. "Death by fire!" Amid the flames, she places the imperial crown upon her head, her only trophy of war. A flicker of cobalt fire awakens atop the crown, never to be quenched again. * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part III | The tripartite prophecy spreads from Janusopolis to the city-states in endless strife throughout the land. "Saving the world... has never been of a chessmaster's interest." She ponders the prophecy, envisioning a fiery future unfolding before her. "But to challenge gods who see themselves as rulers, and even venture beyond the sky... now that's a game worth playing!" Through the endless night, she draws golden-blooded children of humanity like a brilliant flame: In Okhema's Council, Chrysos Heirs and common folk alike share the right to debate and vote. Magnificent libraries rise from the ground, granting all access to knowledge of the Flame-Chase mission. As ancient military orders crumble into dust, a gladius of the deep is drawn to shore, following the perfume of blood and fire to serve as her blades. In the political waters of the holy city, the Goldweaver of Okhema rises on the horizon, and the trembles of golden threads entangle the people's fates. ... Yet her chessboard is etched in golden blood, and she plays against gods themselves. Though she trades burning pain for her crown and suffers eternal infancy for the future, the scales of victory have never truly tipped in humanity's favor. "Losses are a constant on the Flame-Chase journey..." "Only through a worthy sacrifice can we gain a befitting victory. But to topple gods, this is far from enough..." Day and night she studies the board, concealing her anxieties from any watchful eyes. "If you're the chess master, then that makes us the pawns, right?" Without waiting for an answer, the girl who wields a sword like a musical instrument wipes blood from her hands and nods. "I understand now." Only in moments like these would the proud empress fall uncharacteristically silent. "If only..." A trace of bitterness flickers across her face. "No, there are no 'if onlys' anymore." Before the battle to claim the Ocean's Coreflame, she stands once more upon the platform, looking down at five hundred subjects who hold their breath, awaiting her decree. "My warriors..." As her voice resounds, cheers erupt throughout the crowd. "Today, the 'Ocean' shall surrender to us, and the beast of 'Destruction' will become our unstoppable weapon. Now, raise your cups! To our conquest of the sea of stars!" She knows that only a crimson sea of no return awaits ahead, but she must wear the mask of the unflinching ruler. In that moment, the wisdom of her teacher whispers to her again... "Chess is the art of sacrifice." "Your hands must accept death before touching the board." * Unlocked at Character Level |
| Character Story: Part IV | "Drip." A drop of blood falls into water, sending golden ripples across the surface. "Dux Gladiorum, have you thought about where our paths might lead after this battle ends?" The sword-wielding girl stands in thoughtful silence before shaking her head. "After the rebellion settles, we'll head for the stars. You'll find your crystal-clear ocean out there, I promise." With a faint smile, she lifts her scepter skyward. "The gods have pitted us against each other, letting Amphoreus end its own life in the cosmos. So I'll turn my blade on them, on every god, whether in our world or beyond." "Drip." A drop of blood falls into water, sending golden ripples across the surface. "Dux Gladiorum, what if someday I command you to turn your blade against me?" The girl remains silent, assuming it's just another of her cruel jokes. "I'd want your sharpest edge. Anything less would dishonor those who sacrificed themselves for my cause." She tosses the chess piece that represented herself off the board. "See? To lose is to gain. New paths have emerged." "Drip." A drop of blood falls into water, sending golden ripples across the surface. "Dux Gladiorum, who do you think can take up the heavy burden of the Flame-Chase journey once we're gone?" In perfect unison, their gaze falls upon the distant "Goldweaver." "That little golden trout will one day become the most magnificent fish in this pond." "Drip." A drop of blood falls into water, sending golden ripples across the surface. "Many speculate about what I traded with Talanton. Was it the power of endless victory, or the authority of law... Heh. I've never needed any divine help for those..." The silhouette of her past companion faded away. She felt the cold creeping in, the sky pitch black like a starless cave. Long ago, she had also witnessed, in bone-chilling cold, a child with golden blood being taken away. "But in this world that devours people, having golden blood... is the only chance to overthrow everything. Even if... I must live like this for the rest of my life..." The blue-haired girl closes her eyes. "But I've only wished for one thing... since the beginning..." From a beggar child nearly frozen to death in the wilds, to a princess who was no better than a puppet, then to a commander who challenged gods... She personally elevated herself from pawn to player, only to sacrifice herself when the endgame demanded it... "I wish to conquer the tyrannical fate of this world!" * Unlocked at Character Level |

Accidentally posted this as a reply so I am posting this again on the main thread.
I really wanted to get her but I just don’t know what I would do with her if I ended up pulling for her. My Phainon and Anaxa teams are already clearing within the minimum cycles so I feel like she wouldn’t add much to my teams. It’s a shame because I really do like her character design. Maybe I’ll get her on a rerun? For now I’m saving for evil march 7th and preservation dan heng (assuming he’s not free).
is there even a chance that he might be free? they already gave free archer doubt they’ll give another right as his banner ends. or was they such news
When Hoyo announced that Archer would be free in the 3.4 livestream, they also said another 5* limited character would be given out “later this year” explicitly in additoon to Archer.
We’re pretty sure that character is Dan Heng.
Probably a decent unit to pull on rerun for Phainon users, but not right now, he still destroys content without her.
After V5 she’s actually not bad at all, just not necessary right now.
Checked her v5 buffs, looks like she’s a lot stronger now. However, she still runs into the issue of being too niche. Might consider pulling for her now since none of the other 3.5 banners interest me.
*sigh* I hope Hoyoverse doesn’t start a trend of releasing pretty, yet half-assed characters that will be buffed 6+months later after release.
1.x Characters (like Kafka etc.) are only getting Buffed now in 3.x so if Cerydra gets Buffed (or later units) it will be much later than 6 Months.
More like 2 years in 5.x or later!
Cery doesn’t need a buff, her power level is fine. It’s just that her kit is incredibly niche.
My idea for a rework for Cerydra’s kit:
(Do note that all skills are at Level 15.)
Basic ATK: (Changed into Blast.)
“Deal Wind DMG equal to 175% of Cerydra’s ATK to the main target, and 130% to adjacent enemy targets. And gain 1 Charge.”
Passive:
“Characters with “Military Merit” increase their ATK by an amount equal to 30% of Cerydra’s ATK. When the character uses Basic ATK or Skill, Cerydra does an additional ATK of her Basic ATK.
Cerydra cannot gain Charges while Coup de Main is in effect, and will not perform the additional ATK. “Military Merit” only takes effect on the most recently applied target. When the target changeds, Cerydra’s Charge is reset to 0.”
Skill:
“Grants “Military Merit” to one designated target, which gives a 15% Crit Rate buff, and gives Cerydra 2 Charge. Maximum Charge is 8 points. When Charge reaches 6 points, “Military Merit” upgrades to “Peerage” and dispels their CC Debuff. Characters with “Peerage” gain 75% Crit DMG and 25% Crit Rate for Skill DMG (Excess Crit Rate will be turned into Crit DMG.) and trigger a Coup de Main when using their skill on enemies.
When Cerydra’s Charge is 7/8, the character with “Peerage” will gain an additional 10%/20% All-Type RES PEN for the Skill.”
Ultimate:
“Gains 2 Charge. Deals Wind DMG equal to 288” of Cerydra’s ATK to all enemies, additionally performs a Basic ATK right after, and give the character with “Military Merit” 25% Crit DMG for their next skill. If there are no characters with “Militarly Merit” on field, prioritizes granting “Military Merit” to the character in position 1 in the team lineup.”
Traces:
Seeker:
“When Cerydra’s ATK is greater than 2000, for every 100 ATK exceeded, increases this both this unit and the character with “Military Merit” CRIT DMG by 10%, up to a maximum of 80%.”
Observer:
“Increases Cerydra’s CRIT Rate by 100%. While Cerydra’s Charge is at 0, Cerydra will do a Basic ATK. ”
Conqueror:
“When using a Skill, increases the SPD of this unit and teammates with “Military Merit” by 25 for 3 turn(s). When a character with “Military Merit” uses Basic ATK or Skill, Cerydra regenerates 5 Energy.”
Eidolons:
E1:
Stays the same.
E2:
Stays the same.
E3:
Stays the same.
E4:
“Increases Ultimate DMG multiplier by 240%, and gives all allies (Except the character with “Military Merit”.) a SPD Buff of 20 when using Ultimate.”
E5:
Stays the same.
E6:
“Characters with “Military Merit” increase their All-Type RES PEN by 5%. After they use an attack, Cerydra deals 1 additional instance of Wind Additional DMG equal to 360% of her ATK. This effect can be triggered up to 20 time(s). The trigger count resets whenever Cerydra uses her Ultimate. While a teammate with “Military Merit” is present on the field, Cerydra’s All-Type RES PEN increases by 25%.”
Basically, souped up E4 Bronya with buffs, can’t say it hasn’t crossed my mind.
Your basic is broken OP:
Imagine doing two-thirds of a Blade enhanced basic on your support. And they will have 4k ATK minimum. And they have 100% CR. And they stack CD. And they do it over twice as much, without depending on speed.
On your support.
Turn 1:
Basic+1 from being at 0, (1)
Cery turn, +2, (3)
Carry skill+1, basic+1, (5)
Cery ult is likely already up+2, basic+1, (8)
AA (sunday) Carry double skill, (0)
Cery basic for being at 0, (1)
~1000% ATK damage to main target from the support on turn 1, all with >4k ATK, 100%CR and stacking CD. Not to mention being a support and a double skill rotation of 1 to 1.5 turns.
Literally almost every skill based dps char is on top of the meta currently, it’ll be better if they made her as generalist support that synergize very well with older dps like DHIL. We don’t need another buffer for Phainon, Aglaea, Anaxa, or Archer smh.
Ah, yes, those powerful Aglaea skill attacks…
But regardless we’re in a good spot for generalist supports: Cipher/Tribbie/SW/Sunday/Robin/RM. Your boy DHIL doesn’t need (another) dedicated buffer, he needs his rework/buff.
what do we think would be the best stopping point with e3s1 phainon, e0s1 sunday, and e0s1 bronya?
For E2S1 Phainon, Cerydra E0S1 is only 6% better than RM E0S1 (see Cerydra mains for in depth calcs). I would just suggest you to get E1 Sunday and use RM E0S1 as you will do more damage than Cerydra.
If you really want Cerydra, you need to pull her E1, or not pull her at all.
Kafka and SW is future proof they said meanwhile Robin is RM sidegrade outside of FUA.
Notice how people always wrong LMAO
Best designed 4 star in the game!
Don’t you dare insult Gallagoat like that ever again.
EASY SKIP!
Yea, if they don’t make impactful changes in V5, I’m super uninterested in a Phainon-only support. Eventually someone down the line will be compatible, but I doubt she’s going to end up like RM or Robin.
It’s Sparkle 2.0, but WORSE!
She MIGHT find good use again for another unit 10 patches after. That is, if no other unit was made for that current DPS. Hope she gets her own “Archer”. Otherwise, she is just a wasted pull.
Is her e2 any good. Idk much about the meta.
E1S1 is the best stopping point
V3 is here … damn
As initially reviewed she’s horrible and the buff did nothing to change that. Cerydra is solely a Phainon support, that’s it. I think she’s the only character in the game who can’t utilize her whole kit alone, that’s how sad the situation is
There is really no reason to pull for this character, with Cyrene around the corner as well. This is JQ all over again but worse, JQ at least was a universal Nihility with no competition (SW wasn’t buffed, Cipher didn’t exist). There even were some Ratio and Yunli clears JQ enabled. Cerydra isn’t doing any of that. Archer has 10 better supports and for Anaxa she’s only an upgrade in sustainless teams ( a very expensive upgrade at that, not worth the opportunity cost at all, Anaxa has no shortage of synergies)
It’s sad the kit doesn’t even have a direction. Other “DLC” like kits, say Fugue are poised to support any future Superbreak teams or dpses. Cerydra is the most niche skill centric support in the game. Have fun releasing a skill profile character, that’s attack scaling, that can cycle 6 attacks fast enough and doesn’t prefer a different support.
There is no reason to ONLY buff skill. There is no reason to utilize an extra skill as oppose to gaining 100% advance forward or an extra action. Directly inferior to other characters. Her amp is worse than Robin, an aoe aura buffer released over a year ago, and she is a hypercarry specialized unit. Her Lightcone seems better than her whole kit atp
It’s all thanks for Anaxa being busted
They could have made Cerydra the best support for skill-based atk/crit DPS hypercarry in general, but making her that way would only benefit Anaxa more than Phainon himself. As you know, Anaxa is a better DPS than Phainon with the current support available, so they were forced to make Cerydra’s kit more niche like this.
Anyway if you like Cerydra then just pull Phainon for her, vice versa. Very simple lol
yeah maybe on rerun, Sunday robin core + bronya still ok for phainon
Correct, and Phainon is the only one that can fully optimize her buff due to him being able snapshot the buff since you always made him in ‘Peerage’ condition before ult which is easy non rng-able to manage.
Ppl think that her buff isn’t compatible with Phainon bc he already have lot of atk and cdmg which is completely untrue, in fact even if you manage to get him into 9k atk or 500% cdmg it’ll took way more than that to even reach the noticeable amount of “diminishing return” thanks to his high scaling nature.
Cerydra V3 buff for Phainon is actually better than any available support out there even if we don’t include her abillity to let E0 Phainon cast 2 additional meteor during his ult (if you play her correctly).
ah yes. You like Cerydra? Just pull Phainon, the guy who makes all his allies disappear. Surely you’ll get to enjoy the character you actually like
man.. if only Acheron can make Jiaoqiu dissapear from the screen for most of the battle
“When Cerydra is in the Departed state, the All-Type RES PEN of the Skill DMG dealt by the character with “Peerage” increases by 10%.”
The kit designers really made her a BiS for Phainon 🥀🥀🥀
Not even Phainon allows her to fully utilize her kit, as her traces tend to make a her a sub DPS, which is completely useless in a Phainon team as she is departed and can’t attack at all.
I honestly think cerydra will have some synergy with Marth SP and cyrene, but i could get wrong.
This is still a shame that she lacks so much versatility.
