Character DetailsA Memokeeper of the Garden of Recollection. A mysterious and elegant soothsayer.
She often wears a warm smile and is willing to patiently listen to the words of others, thus using such means as a pretext to enter "memories" and gain omniscience over certain matters.
A lady passionate about collecting unique memories, yet the thoughts that guide her are hard to glean.
Character Story: Part I"She's quite an unusual kid, and I could sense it from the day she was born. It felt like nature itself was celebrating her arrival: The birds chirped, the moon and sun were together in the sky. The cards in my hand seemed to hint at the emergence of a soul steeped in nostalgia. Right from her early years, she had a fascination with stories from the past. She would delve deep into contemplating our origins, our creators, and even the very beginning of the world. Her questions would leave even the most erudite scholars scratching their heads. Sure, some other kids might poke fun at her for asking such deep questions, but aren't those questions important? Life is akin to a winding labyrinth, where memories serve as our sole companions."
— A mother's memories

Afflicted with amnesia, her mother struggled with forgetfulness, making it difficult for her to recognize her family or recall recent events.
Clutching the diagnosis of amnesia, she held her mother tightly, attempting to read aloud from the latter's diary. Her mother was physically present, but where was she in the realm of consciousness?

She stayed by her mother's side until the end of her life, realizing that her mother had been fading away as her memories became fragmented. If her own memories of her mother were to ever become blurred as well, her mother would completely slip away from her.

"Life is akin to a winding labyrinth, where memories serve as our sole companions." For the first time, she comprehended the profound meaning behind these words.

Character Story: Part II"I arrived on this planet as an explorer. My usual tasks involved observing the flow of rivers, examining the materials of the city's bricks and tiles, analyzing the steepness of roads, and documenting the number and distribution of chimneys... These duties aligned with people's imagination of preserving a planet's 'memories.'"

— However, such efforts were far from sufficient.

Once I started working in secrecy, I would often come across that girl. Sometimes, sunlight would dance through the leaves as she walked beneath them, disappearing around corners once the street lamps illuminated the surroundings. On other occasions, her gaze would follow a carrier pigeon, which left the High Priest's quarters every Wednesday night, only to return the following morning to the palace's chief of the guards — a known political adversary of the High Priest. Occasionally, she would quietly observe rain trickling into sewers scarred by artillery fired from the opposite shore. And sometimes, waves would dampen her skirts, while an elderly woman washing clothes by the river recounted the story of the previous sovereign and his five illegitimate children.

— Few individuals, apart from us, understand that a planet conceals and safeguards its "memories" in such a manner.

I trailed behind her until we reached a rock on the moor. I knew that it was the time to invite her.

"What do you see?" I asked, in a form visible to her.
She pointed at a patch of weeds and the lingering traces.
"I see a stone, perhaps once part of a fireplace... But it must hold more significance."
I nodded and assisted her in removing the weeds and dirt from the crevices of the stone.
"It was once a monument," she murmured, gently caressing the engravings adorning its surface.
"Indeed, but the 'memory' holds more significance."

Thus, I revealed to her that the stone on the moor had once served as a fireplace, a monument before that, a flowerbed, and even an altar... And before all that, it had simply been a stone on the moor.

"What price would I pay if I want to witness those 'memories'?"
"People will remain oblivious to your presence unless you are willing to reveal yourself."
"Just as people fail to acknowledge the existence of black swans until they encounter one?"
"Yes, just like that."

— An {RUBY_B#Memokeeper}Explorer's{RUBY_E#} memories

Memokeepers travel to numerous planets, collecting the memories of each city they encounter. They are careful not to leave any trace of their presence, ensuring that nobody remembers them, unless they come across someone with the potential to become a Memokeeper, whom they then take away from the city into the vast expanse of the stars.

* Unlocked at Character Level 40
Character Story: Part IIIMany individuals obsess over the glory of the past and aspire to become Memokeepers, longing to live within their memories. Such individuals often degenerate into unbridled Cremators, distorting memories to suit their preferences. However, she is different... I've sensed her unwavering determination and profound respect for memories themselves. Following tradition, I asked her three questions before making her a Memokeeper.

"Will you dedicate your whole life to the collection of memories?"
"I will."
"Will you relinquish your physical form and embrace the transformation of self?"
"I will."
"If one day you cease to exist, what legacy will you leave behind for the world?"
"My memories. They hold seeds from the past, destined for rebirth into the future."

Memories come in various forms. Some are trivial and heartwarming, while others are grand and expansive. Some are gentle and meek, while others are wild and untamed... When she became a Memokeeper, her memories became tranquil and serene, like the calm waves that finally found their destined harbor.

— A Memokeeper's memories

"What comes to your mind?" The Memokeeper asked.
As she opened her eyes, fragments of memories swirled around her.
"People tend to believe they are facing the present and the future, yet fail to realize that we are all, in fact, moving toward the past."

"A joyous memory from ██. This dramatic memory is filled with vibrant hues of joy, confusion, and humor, but it can hardly be called true happiness. Such is the future it portrays."
"A regrettable memory from ██. The fleeting happiness in this memory is beautiful yet short-lived, like a shooting spark from faded ashes. Cherish your limited moment, dear guest, for it informs me that it shall soon vanish."
"A vague memory from ██. This memory is faint, chaotic, and disorienting, akin to an endless downpour with no respite in sight. I yearn to capture the future it points to, whether it be filled with rain or sunshine..."

— Black Swan's memories

"I saw the figure of a woman, gracefully leaping and transforming amidst images and patterns. No... I'm not crazy, I did indeed see 'her.' I remember her voice, its velvety texture, and the colorful cards in her hands, imbued with some sort of magic... Oh, and she invited me to partake in fortune-telling. She said, 'Whether you want to foresee happiness or misfortune in the future, retrieve lost possessions, or seek unexpected gains... All I need is an honest story, for the past and the future are overlapped on the same point of a single circle.' My head spun, and she exuded such gentleness. I talked so much to her, and she patiently listened to my ramblings... And then, following her divination results, I retrieved a lost mirror for a guest of the hotel! Oh, you asked what I said to her? Oh, nothing important... Just some rumors about the past..."
— A native Penacony resident's memories

Currently, she journeys through various realms as a diviner, uncovering memories intertwined with her Path and Aeons. She believes that those memories are as enduring as gems, impervious to the eroding forces of oblivion.

"Numerous Memokeepers have ventured to Penacony, only to discover it as a mere illusory mirage dancing upon the water's surface."
"However, dreams... They represent a distorted form of memories. I shall delve into its depths and catch a fleeting glimpse of the buried memories before those Memosnatchers and Cremators arrive."

  3. would a team comp of Dr Ratio, Blackswan, Ruan Mei and sustain (Luocha, fu xuan, huo huo) be viable? since bs does defense shred, applies debuffs in form of DOT and does good damage herself be viable? or do u guys have any other ideas of teams for black swan besides her usual dot setup?

    • Technically, yes. She can be your debuff source while still providing respectable damage, so it’s pretty viable. Whether it is better than her DoT setup or not, I don’t think so. But they did do a lot to ensure she can be played outside of Kafka teams but keeping Kafka teams her best spot so it’s prolly functional.

  5. I have two questions fellow Black Swan enjoyers:

    1) She uses new trace mats. Are we gonna be able to exchange the old ones for them? Or will we have to farm or use tears instead?

    2) I know she loves Effect Hit Rate so Eyes of the Prey is prolly her best F2P option, but what about Solitary Healing? Might help with her energy in mob fights mayhaps?

    • 1. Yes you can. This comes at a 2:1 conversion ratio, which isn’t economic.

      2. Black swan is good against two or more elite enemies (i.e. MoC). She needs time to build up her DoT to deal massive damage outside of her turn, which means she isn’t capable to destroy mobs swiftly. If you don’t have eyes of prey you can use solitary healing regardless.

      • I do have Eyes of the Prey but only at S2. So was wondering if Solitary S5 would work better. Plus Solitary just needs mobs to die, not necessarily by her hand and I plan to have her with Kafka 😀

And ya I figured it was 2:1 like ascension mats, so maybe I’ll do a little bit just to kickstart her a bit.

        Thanks for your help!

  6. Her kits is hella strong on high speed scenarios and esp with Ruan Mei, but rather confusing on some parts. So 2 questions, (1.) Kafka cannot proc sacrament DoT until BS does her ult? Or is it considered a DoT itself?
and (2) Does the stack reset on Sacrament being procced, or the start of the turn?

        • You don’t need her ult to allow her DoT to be force-proc-able by 4-star DoT characters. Being able to assign DoT itself makes one viable teammate for black swan, even asta works. Every time an enemy takes damage from a DoT status, black swan stacks her unique DoT on that enemy. Force-proc-ability is not such a big part of black swan’s strength.

          • Black swan + gui is definitely viable. The 3rd member may be asta. The 4th member may be a sustainer that can assign some sort of DoT, such as fire trailblazer / march 7th with “Trend of the Universal Market”. The more different sources of DoT, the more powerful black swan will be. Black swan and kafka assists each other by different means but are not necessarily dependent on each other.

          • Also, black swan has limited capacity being a nihility DPS assistant, not even when she is teamed with Dr.Ratio. DoT characters work in a way that everyone is half-DPS half-assistant while their most ideal teammates being each other. I advice against mixing them with straightforward DPS.

          • ERR rope + silverwolf’s event light cone should be enough for black swan to cast her ult every three actions. However, this comes with an opportunity cost of an attack rope and possibly damage amp from eyes of prey or black swan’s sig lc, leading to a lower DoT damage, while casting her ult about once or twice more times during battle may not be able to make up for this.

    • yeah, I didn’t do the math but I think without kafka you really need empiphany coverage to ensure gui, sampo(e4) or luka to deal her dmg as much as possible unlike kafka which doesn’t need empiphany at all. apart from this bs personal dmg grows as well so you kill two birds with one stone (more stacks=more dmg, other chars apply bs dot more often as well which already does more dmg=dmg² [okay, not exactly dmg²:D]) but I’m not sure if err on rope and lc is a bit of an overkill especially when you menage to speed yourself up or delay enemy turns.

    • i dont think its worth it to run err rope. Her ult is debuff so its tied to enemy taking their turn, so its actually not that bad to have 5t ult (or 4t with huohuo)

    • They count as a single debuff, but is considered as 4 dot debuffs for the purpose of gaining Sacrament stacks.. It’s because of “Viscera’s Disquiet” trace (see above). You can see it for your self. Search “BlackSwan moc” and look for a leaked moc 12 with Kafka, BS, RM, and HH. Right after she used her Ult, she used a skill on an enemy with 1 stack Sacrament. After the skill hits, the enemy gains 4 more for a total of 5 stacks.

  8. people got baited by “bs only 20% better than sampo” thing and don’t realize that those calculation are based on single-target scenario which doesn’t include her talent proc on 3 stacks that can trigger on adjacent enemies

    • And i don’t even want to counter bait with “Jingliu only 20% better than Misha” it can be misleading without taking account in their targets area or SP usage, other variable.

    • Also, sampo’s skill is a bounce attack which performs exceptionally well in single target scinario but gets very bad if there are 3 or more targets. This comparason is unfair and impractical.

I just copied others spreadsheet and added sacrement dot calculation on BT column by +360% (yk when against 3 enemies, the one in middle have max 360% dot each time the other one taking their turns).
And the numbers goes up to 45% with signature and 30% with s5eotp.
Also it just 1 enemy damage, its hard to count TOTAL damage for all enemies because sampo skill is bounce attack and the calculation for sampo might lower than it should(btw both sampo and bs use their skills every turn on those sheets which not really realistic).

        • This sim have using a more realistic DoT stack tracking and better EHR to debuff chance calculating. when most TC would failed to do so. after all Sampo do not automatically put a full stacks wind shear on everything permanently, well done Djeeta, thank you.
