Character DetailsA Memokeeper of the Garden of Recollection. A mysterious and elegant soothsayer.
She often wears a warm smile and is willing to patiently listen to the words of others, thus using such means as a pretext to enter "memories" and gain omniscience over certain matters.
A lady passionate about collecting unique memories, yet the thoughts that guide her are hard to glean.
Character Story: Part I"She's quite an unusual kid, and I could sense it from the day she was born. It felt like nature itself was celebrating her arrival: The birds chirped, the moon and sun were together in the sky. The cards in my hand seemed to hint at the emergence of a soul steeped in nostalgia. Right from her early years, she had a fascination with stories from the past. She would delve deep into contemplating our origins, our creators, and even the very beginning of the world. Her questions would leave even the most erudite scholars scratching their heads. Sure, some other kids might poke fun at her for asking such deep questions, but aren't those questions important? Life is akin to a winding labyrinth, where memories serve as our sole companions."
— A mother's memories

Afflicted with amnesia, her mother struggled with forgetfulness, making it difficult for her to recognize her family or recall recent events.
Clutching the diagnosis of amnesia, she held her mother tightly, attempting to read aloud from the latter's diary. Her mother was physically present, but where was she in the realm of consciousness?

She stayed by her mother's side until the end of her life, realizing that her mother had been fading away as her memories became fragmented. If her own memories of her mother were to ever become blurred as well, her mother would completely slip away from her.

"Life is akin to a winding labyrinth, where memories serve as our sole companions." For the first time, she comprehended the profound meaning behind these words.

Character Story: Part II"I arrived on this planet as an explorer. My usual tasks involved observing the flow of rivers, examining the materials of the city's bricks and tiles, analyzing the steepness of roads, and documenting the number and distribution of chimneys... These duties aligned with people's imagination of preserving a planet's 'memories.'"

— However, such efforts were far from sufficient.

Once I started working in secrecy, I would often come across that girl. Sometimes, sunlight would dance through the leaves as she walked beneath them, disappearing around corners once the street lamps illuminated the surroundings. On other occasions, her gaze would follow a carrier pigeon, which left the High Priest's quarters every Wednesday night, only to return the following morning to the palace's chief of the guards — a known political adversary of the High Priest. Occasionally, she would quietly observe rain trickling into sewers scarred by artillery fired from the opposite shore. And sometimes, waves would dampen her skirts, while an elderly woman washing clothes by the river recounted the story of the previous sovereign and his five illegitimate children.

— Few individuals, apart from us, understand that a planet conceals and safeguards its "memories" in such a manner.

I trailed behind her until we reached a rock on the moor. I knew that it was the time to invite her.

"What do you see?" I asked, in a form visible to her.
She pointed at a patch of weeds and the lingering traces.
"I see a stone, perhaps once part of a fireplace... But it must hold more significance."
I nodded and assisted her in removing the weeds and dirt from the crevices of the stone.
"It was once a monument," she murmured, gently caressing the engravings adorning its surface.
"Indeed, but the 'memory' holds more significance."

Thus, I revealed to her that the stone on the moor had once served as a fireplace, a monument before that, a flowerbed, and even an altar... And before all that, it had simply been a stone on the moor.

"What price would I pay if I want to witness those 'memories'?"
"People will remain oblivious to your presence unless you are willing to reveal yourself."
"Just as people fail to acknowledge the existence of black swans until they encounter one?"
"Yes, just like that."

— An {RUBY_B#Memokeeper}Explorer's{RUBY_E#} memories

Memokeepers travel to numerous planets, collecting the memories of each city they encounter. They are careful not to leave any trace of their presence, ensuring that nobody remembers them, unless they come across someone with the potential to become a Memokeeper, whom they then take away from the city into the vast expanse of the stars.

Character Story: Part IIIMany individuals obsess over the glory of the past and aspire to become Memokeepers, longing to live within their memories. Such individuals often degenerate into unbridled Cremators, distorting memories to suit their preferences. However, she is different... I've sensed her unwavering determination and profound respect for memories themselves. Following tradition, I asked her three questions before making her a Memokeeper.

"Will you dedicate your whole life to the collection of memories?"
"I will."
"Will you relinquish your physical form and embrace the transformation of self?"
"I will."
"If one day you cease to exist, what legacy will you leave behind for the world?"
"My memories. They hold seeds from the past, destined for rebirth into the future."

Memories come in various forms. Some are trivial and heartwarming, while others are grand and expansive. Some are gentle and meek, while others are wild and untamed... When she became a Memokeeper, her memories became tranquil and serene, like the calm waves that finally found their destined harbor.

— A Memokeeper's memories

"What comes to your mind?" The Memokeeper asked.
As she opened her eyes, fragments of memories swirled around her.
"People tend to believe they are facing the present and the future, yet fail to realize that we are all, in fact, moving toward the past."

"A regrettable memory from ██. The fleeting happiness in this memory is beautiful yet short-lived, like a shooting spark from faded ashes. Cherish your limited moment, dear guest, for it informs me that it shall soon vanish."
"A vague memory from ██. This memory is faint, chaotic, and disorienting, akin to an endless downpour with no respite in sight. I yearn to capture the future it points to, whether it be filled with rain or sunshine..."

— Black Swan's memories

"I saw the figure of a woman, gracefully leaping and transforming amidst images and patterns. No... I'm not crazy, I did indeed see 'her.' I remember her voice, its velvety texture, and the colorful cards in her hands, imbued with some sort of magic... Oh, and she invited me to partake in fortune-telling. She said, 'Whether you want to foresee happiness or misfortune in the future, retrieve lost possessions, or seek unexpected gains... All I need is an honest story, for the past and the future are overlapped on the same point of a single circle.' My head spun, and she exuded such gentleness. I talked so much to her, and she patiently listened to my ramblings... And then, following her divination results, I retrieved a lost mirror for a guest of the hotel! Oh, you asked what I said to her? Oh, nothing important... Just some rumors about the past..."
— A native Penacony resident's memories

Currently, she journeys through various realms as a diviner, uncovering memories intertwined with her Path and Aeons. She believes that those memories are as enduring as gems, impervious to the eroding forces of oblivion.

"Numerous Memokeepers have ventured to Penacony, only to discover it as a mere illusory mirage dancing upon the water's surface."
"However, dreams... They represent a distorted form of memories. I shall delve into its depths and catch a fleeting glimpse of the buried memories before those Memosnatchers and Cremators arrive."

    • Pragmatically, I suggest you to pull for the team in mind rather than pulling for power. Characters in HSR are meant to be balanced by teams rather than by characters themselves. Having a team matters more than having a lot of powerful characters that don’t become a team.

If you plan to play DoT, make sure not to miss Black Swan here and wait for Kafka’s rerun, and more ideally pull for Ruan Mei when she gets a rerun. This team is both viable in PF and MoC and is insanely great in simuverse.

DHIL, on the other hand, is a classic DPS that asks for a single-DPS team built around him. His playstyle is to have his teammates buff him, then do the damage to the enemy. He is SP hungry so you make sure not to miss Sparkle. DHIL is great for MoC and simuverse but isn’t ideal for PF. Also, his role overlaps with the F2P Dr.Ratio, who does almost the same thing.

Pulling for characters isn’t cheap and it also takes up a long time to build up your relics. Every character you pull for are likely to company with you for the rest of your career in the game. Pull for a character you don’t like for power and you will regret it some time later because meta can change and power is temporary.

      • Yeah relics, getting good ones can take awhile. Depending on your luck. For you can get crit rate crit damage all day for a standard run of the mill dps. Yet it rolls all into defense. Which that all before taking into account the time you spend on gathering mats to level up their skills/lightcone.

Yeah playing with characters you like is always ideal. For if you enjoy playing with them. odds are you won’t feel the need to pull for as many characters or feel like your rolls when to waste, due to hating how they play. That or oh hey, might want to save up for a rerun to make your favorite character better. For some of these extra copies, might make a character have more freedom in terms of artifacts. Better at skill point generation or something else.

Which yeah. Team building should always be a good thing to think about. For a character can be powerful but that doesn’t mean they work well with the characters you currently have or with someone else that is strong. While others characters might be more flexible in terms of who they pair up well with.

  2. I’ve started playing the game roughly a week ago and I’d like some insight if this character is worth pulling when I’ve got so little characters, and from what I’ve been reading, it’s preferred to already have like Kafka to make better use of Black Swan (?) I have Bronya, Bailu and the free Ratio and don’t really any dot characters either. Should I go for Sparkle, Acheron or whatever better character that would be more useful for my early on that appears down the line instead?

Sorry I’ve just started playing this so my knowledge is basically non existent and I’d prefer to avoid any mistakes early on. Thank you!

    • If that’s the case, it’s a bit hard to recommend BS since I doubt you’d have the relevant DoT 4*s and their Eidolons either. DoT takes much more investment to pull off since they can’t utilize Crit Rate/Crit Dmg at all, which means one less multiplier towards their damage.

I’m trying to write up a little review of sorts on BS so maybe that might help you when I drop it here but… if you’re not fussy about character preferences and are only looking to get good value, Sparkle would likely serve you better down the line.

    • Once the 2.1 beta comes out, we will know Acheron’s proper kit so keep an eye out for that!

I’ll preface this by saying if you genuinely like her design by all means go for her. However, Black Swan needs proper teammates to thrive and without them all she has is her Def shred to offer other teams as her Arcana won’t stack to the same level as having another DoT with her, and that shred is a blast and Pela’s is AoE and a higher percentage (and she’s a 4 star!) So honestly I’d say wait for her rerun. By then you might get lucky with pulls and get other DoT units that’ll work for her!

      Sparkle’s a great harmony so you can’t go wrong with her, but my personal recommendation is grab another DPS. Ratio, Bronya, and Bailu + any 4th character you get/like will get you through the story with ease, but endgame stuff require two teams and if I’ve learned anything it’s that a good DPS is a priority as my god does it suck having good supports and no damage ;_;

Imbibitor Lunae is pretty good and actually works great with Sparkle if you wanna try and get both next patch. Jingliu is heralded as the best DPS in the game if you wanna go the meta route and get her on her rerun. And as I said, Acheron’s kit will be revealed soon so she might be godly too!

TLDR: Black Swan is not as intuitive as other DPS and your account would benefit more from others than her. Only pull her if you really like her as a character but understand it’ll take a bit more time before she shines to her fullest potential as you’ll need her teammates properly built.

    • Arcane is BS own DoT and her talent say for every other DoT triggered (max. 3 times(Sampo can technicly 5 times trigger this for BS)) Arcane stack on the enemy.
Asta would trigger only one time, but she can give speed.

In my opinion would like play with Sampo, on the other side can Astas be better if your Kafka is E1 to trigger more of her followups.

    • I’d really recommend going for the EHR LCs first (Before the Tutorial Mission Starts, if you played early on, or Eyes of the Prey).

What’s keeping me from recommending Solitary is its buff uptime. You’re better off using Fermata (as far as we know from leaks, Arcana is considered WShear even without her Ult) or It’s Showtime (MoC LC in the incoming update).

    • Solitary Healing is better used on your “Breaker” anyway- that is to say, a unit specifically built to Break enemy toughness to put a HUGE DoT on their heads. This LC right now is best on Luka (building break effect) or Sampo (building break effect) it would work on the other DoT units as well but Sampo and Luka are able to EAT through enemy toughness (especially paired with Ruan Mei) not to mention Bleed and Wind Sheer are the first and second strongest Break DoTs in the game.

Fermata actually performs better than Solitary Healing in terms of boosting raw damage numbers for your DoT units, so it’s better to use that instead if said unit isn’t Breaking the enemy. Showtime also looks great for Swan, as she gets full stacks from one Skill usage, so long there are 3+ enemies, so another F2P option that’s available to everyone.

  3. questions about her talent.

whenever kafka triggers dot will it add stacks?

if yes, kafka with her DoT applied plus lightcone plus arcana means she’ll add 3 stacks every time she trigger the dot?

and does applying dot also add stacks?

    • it triggers at start of enemy turn so kafka’s skill won’t affect it. presumably Arcana will trigger last in the enemy dot order so other dots will have a chance to stack it up even more before it pops, similar to other stacking passives like IL’s passive or similar to swordplay lc passive.

    • Yes, DoTonations will add Arcana stacks and yes, Kafka + LC + Arcana = 3 stacks.
Nope, only applying DoTs won’t add stacks.

Here’s a list of how stacks are applied:
      – BA (65%): Applies 1 stack + 1 for every DoT Element present (Arcana is counted as WShear)
      – Skill (100%): Applies 1 stack to the enemies hit.
      – A2 (65%): On the main target, Skill applies 1 stack for every DoT Element present (Arcana is counted as WShear)
      – A4 (65%): Enemies can receive up to 3 stacks when DoTs are DoTonated by an attack/ability. (CN info) Enemies receive 1 stack when they spawn.
      – Talent (65%): Enemies receive stacks at the start of their turn when DoTs trigger. Arcana also counts here.
      – Talent – 3 stacks (65%): The Blast DoT attack triggered by 3 stacks also applies Arcana to the adjacent targets.
      – Technique (150% -> 75% -> 37.5%…): Continuously applies Arcana on each enemy. Base chance starts at 150% and halves each time it succeeds. Effect stops on the enemy once it fails.

Do note that even at 120% EHR, a base chance of 65% only gives you an 85.8% proc chance against enemies with 40% Eff Res.

        • Sure they were asking about her Talent, but if you want to be a stickler for details they asked specifically about DoTonations adding stacks which her A4 Trace *would* technically fall under her Talent once you view it in-game in the character’s ability overview in their profile or during combat.

    • i think e1 is much better cuz there is ruan mei kit on it. ress pen.

ress pens probably stackable with ruanmei ultimate.

meanwhile def ignore from lc require 4type dot in team.
you also get def ignore from dot relic.
def ignore value being reduced when you lowering enemy def (black swan skill).

BS need like 100-120% effect hit rate for maximaze her kit.

so for lightcone i recommended silverwolf s5 f2p lc from event.

anyway just use lc you have.

      • I decided to properly recheck so let me correct myself. With E1S5 EotP, her own DoT damage falls slightly behind E0S1, but the team’s overall DoT damage would roughly breakeven (E0S1 only <1% ahead). I must say though that my sheet was only BS+Gui, so your mileage may vary depending on actual team comp, stat distrib, outside buffs, etc.

Now as for S1 EotP only, it really comes down to whether you want to buff her personal damage by going for S1 Sig LC, or be content with that for now and buff up team-wide damage with E1 instead. I personally value E1, but that's just my opinion on the matter.

        • I still have doubts about Black Swan.

Each DOT that hits its target will be able to generate more Arcane. Kafka leaves 2 with her light cone. Wouldn’t it be better to bring Kafka, Guinaifen, and Black Swan instead of Ruan Mei? Because leaving out Ruan Mei for Guinaifen seems like a good argument to better obtain Sparkle, considering that both 2.0 banners are incredible.
