Story

Head

The Swarm that covers the sky turns to dust in a sea of fire. Silvery-white snowflakes drift in deep space, reflecting the pallid light of the star. In this brief moment, the endless sound of buzzing and the commands in the communication channel finally dials down to silence.

The Swarm attacking the "empire" has not been eradicated, and the next command to head to battle will ring out again after a brief pause, as it always did.

The Iron Cavalry of the "empire" feels the external sensations passed to her via the deep spinal cord signals. She remembers what she felt the last time she was removed from the cockpit. The hot wind had lightly tousled her hair and the humid air soaked the tissue on the back of her neck, with droplets of sweat stuck to her skin. She does not hate that feeling. It is tenfold more lively than the simulated signals. The armor deeply synchronizes its sensory organs with that of the pilot. Though this would worsen the pain of entropy loss, the Iron Cavalry has no other choice if they wish to defeat the Swarm.

"Rule 8 of the Glamoth Military Regulations. Any surviving Cavalry members should voluntarily return to their regiment..."

The fighter only realizes that the external sensory signals have tricked her when she sees the decapitated silver armor — The next command to head to the battlefield will never sound again. What a cruel brief reprieve.

Hands

Glamoth's Iron Cavalry clenches their wrists tight, causing the filthy carapaces of the Swarm to crack open, allowing the corrosive fluid from their abdomens to spray freely. When the insectoid fluid touches their silvery armor, it vaporises instantly, leaving only stains of filth and blood.

The wreckage of armor and insectoid limbs scatter as deep-space debris. Around Glamoth, the "River of Death" flowes silently under the pull of gravity, marking the end of the bloody battle.

The leaders of the council discuss the post-war situation, passing judgment on Titania, who had never wielded real power. It is because of her control over the Iron Cavalry, whose power rivaled that of the Swarm. She is the greatest threat to the Republic's continued survival... People ring the bells of peace, declaring to the populace that the Swarm had dispersed, and the azure sky would return to the hands of the Republic.

"If we do not restrain the 'Empress,' who else can control these weapons?"

The Iron Cavalry ceaselessly hone their iron fists' strength in their brief lives. But they never imagined that those pale feeble hands in the council, lifting high, would possess the power to change Glamoth's fate.

Body

Several arcs of intense fire streak across the night sky, surpassing the horizon where dawn rises, heading toward different star sectors of Glamoth — a routine that the residents of the Republic are most familiar with and also most terrified of.

Silver-tinged armors soar through the skies, racing against time to reach the devastated battlefields, too preoccupied to gaze down at the views they tirelessly guard day and night.

The Empress' orders brook no argument. Identical-looking warriors are birthed from the incubators, swearing allegiance to the Empress and to reclaim Glamoth's skies. The Iron Cavalry traverse through the mountains of corpses and seas of flying insectoids' blood, burning the charred remnants of the vermin's shells, shattering their colossal jaws and toothy remnants... The fate of Glamoth's Iron Cavalry is to endure the slow disintegration of entropy, burning fiercely on the threshold between life and death.

Until the flames are completely extinguished, until the insectoids that blot out the sky turn into ashen black earth, until no one remains alive — such a daily routine would continue...

What does it mean to be alive? As the acceleration of the propelled armor tightly clamps down on their chests and as the piercing pain of entropy-induced numbness briefly surfaces on their bodies, they would taste a brief hint of what it means to be alive.

Feet

The Iron Cavalry's tracks spread across every corner of Glamoth's "Empire" like blazing meteors, yet they cannot escape the "dream" woven by Titania.

The people of the Republic worry about the legion born for war, questioning how much overlap there truly is between the "Empire" that never existed and the territories that the ordinary people are familiar with...

The Empress bestows honor and faith upon her knights, and the Iron Cavalry offers loyalty and commitment to the Empress... New humans are continuously birthed from incubators and given numbers and missions, while old humans hide beneath steel barriers, anxiously enjoying the long-awaited peace they yearned for. The deception of peace needs to be exposed by someone, and that particular method of war that shook the very foundation of humanity should not exist in the world. When the catastrophe fades, people with fear in their hearts then want to destroy the distorted products of war completely...

The Iron Cavalry's greaves break through the sky. As long as they are willing, they can reach any star.

However, the "Empire" is nowhere to be found. Before the Iron Cavalry lies only a predetermined path — one end leading to death, the other to themselves.

  2. Bootlickers need to understand why they had to change this set for Boothill because 300 BE E1S1 Booty + this set (old version) = 56% def ignore. That is insanely broken!

    • Even with the nerf, he only lost 8%. E1S1 Boothill would have 48% ignore DEF. It’s still insane.

  3. the def ignore nerf to boothill is so minimal, I cant believe how big of a deal ppl are making it out to be, especially for a character like boothill, who will be shredding health bars as much as he will… its not like its even gonna be bad on him, just he wont take advantage of the full 4set effect unless they have HMC on their team… he will still have 10% def ignore. Anyways, I’m happy it buffs Super Break now cuz I have enjoyed using a Super Break team recently and am excited to see what future Break DPS they bring.

    • Some who hate Firefly for a reason or another and would not pull for her have been mad because Hoyo has a deep affection for her. She was made to make the most of the very unique HTB’s kit and was given a high power level and high adaptability. She was bestowed with the very specific Kalpagni set that it almost reads like Firefly set. Even the relic set that was meant for break DPS was altered so Firefly benefits more from it than Boothill, because she has higher portion of super break damage in her damage composition. It is not because of Boothill’s nerf. It is not because of Boothill wasn’t strong. It is because of Hoyo did not have a same level of affection for Boothill.

      • You could use the same argument for Acheron, cuz we all know Hoyo loves their Meis, but is it an argument that was made? No. Thats gonna happen with so many characters ever, some characters will simply be cared for much more than others, like Acheron and Firefly. Are we forgetting that Acherons BiS Planar set works mostly on just her? Kalpani works also on Gallagher and Asta, which both would work amazingly well with Firefly. Plus HMC makes ANY character who scales off BE work with Iron Cavalry, so its not like you cant run it or like Firefly is favored, overtime there will be more SuperBreak Harmonies and DPS… like, your argument has no legs to stand on, things have always been this way. Hoyo always had preferential treatment for some of their characters, even in Genshin. They made their first dedicated new artifact set specifically for Ganyu and Childe, there was a set only Xiao could use until Xianyun and Gaming, Furina got her own set that wasnt even good for her, but mostly only she could use and their recent artifact set was made to work for Arlecchino, but future BoL characters will use too. Hoyo has always done super specific sets and overtime made them work for more than just the premier 5star at the time.

    • They won’t and if they did it’d be a major hit to his DMG
Super Break doesn’t get the Elemental bonus, nor does it scale off enemy Max toughness, trust me destroying his kit would be much worse than taking away 8% def shred

      • Regular break also doesn’t get the elemental damage bonus. The only difference between break and super break damage is that regular break damage takes into account the max toughness of the target and a special multiplier based on the element used (2x for phys/fire, 1.5x for wind, 1x for ice/lightning, 0.5x for qua/ima), and super break takes into account the toughness damage value of the triggering attack instead of either of those things. You can see the formula’s on the wiki. https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Toughness#Weakness_Break

It would still end up being less damage though I’m pretty sure, unless they also increased his break efficiency.

  4. The change hurts Boothill since his break damage is not considered Super Break. Not much on the character himself, but huge emotional damage on the potential owners lol.

Anyways, which one is better for him now? This set or 4 set thief?

    • So going from this set. Going to want the super break dps to use it. Someone on watch maker set. With the final supports in the group, thief or if lacking any good thief pieces, this will do. That or would it be a better idea, for all but the watch maker support to wear this? To boost up that break effect damage. When harmony Mc is in the group?

      • My HTB with 260.1 break effect deals 8732 super break damage vs. a random overworld mob, and 9780 super break damage when Gallagher’s ultimate is on, that’s 12% more damage than the first one, meaning super break damage clearly counts as break damage.

  7. I’m going to need someone fluent in English for confirmation on this, but I hope I’m understanding this correctly that;
This set’s DEF ignore bonus will only applied WHEN break damage is dealt, and not TO break damage specifically.

This means; Excluding initial toughness break, the only way to have access to this bonus is by pairing up with HTB. Boothill himself reaps full benefits because of his talent.
If my understanding above is true, then both raw damage and break damage portions dealt by SAM should receive the bonus.

I’m also very unsure if this is an upgrade over quantum set when taking uptime into consideration – A dilemma that often decided by substats RNG hell.

      • Yeah, when this set was first leaked I think myself and everyone else misread it, or it was mistranslated.

As of right now, the wording clearly says it applies to break damage only. So outside of standard break damage, HTB’s super break, and Boothill, this set doesn’t do anything. Which isn’t necessarily a problem, but… I’m not sure how I feel about it. It feels like jumping through hoops to get 250% break effect, all for a defense shred that’s just… not only less than the quantum set’s 20%, but also only applying to break effect??

    • They will clearly state if something is treated as Break Dmg (the way they did with RM) and unfortunately Firefly’s Ult-mode attacks aren’t. They simply just used BE as part of the scaling, no different from how Fire TB uses both Def and Atk.

      • I think the OP’s confusion was because it says “when dealing break DMG” rather than just the break DMG ignores def
It’s just usual weird phrasing from Hoyo, either way it’s FF and Boothill’s best set rn

    • When the en text looks confusing let’s look at the cn text and we might comprehend it in a better way.

      CN: 当装备者的击破特攻大于等于150%/250%时,对敌方目标造成击破伤害时无视其10%/18%的防御力。
(lit. When the wearer’s Break Effect is equal to or greater than 150%/250%, ignores 10%/18% of the enemy target’s DEF when dealing Break DMG to them.)

EN: If the wearer’s Break Effect is 150%/250% or higher, ignores 10%/18% of the enemy target’s DEF when dealing Break DMG to them.

Damn, seems the en localization team was only faithful to the original text wording, it didn’t intend to make it confusing.
