TitleText
n/aSenior manager of the Strategic Investment Department at the IPC and one of the Ten Stonehearts. His Cornerstone is the "aventurine of stratagems."
An ostentatious risk-taker, he often wears a smile that masks his true motives.
He won his current position by wagering against fate itself. He views life as a high-stakes, high-return investment, and he plays this particular gamble with masterful ease.
n/a"I have something to report to you about the new employee."

"What makes you so worried, Erwin?"

"It's complaints about him, both formal and informal. My mailbox has been flooded with them like countless pieces of paper. I wonder... if it's worth reconsidering his inclusion in the Strategic Investment Department."

"What do these complaints say?"

"Mostly about his origins. Those eyes of his..."
"He once deceived the Marketing Development Department by falsely claiming that there were energy sources hidden in the barren land of Sigonia, not yet effectively developed and utilized. A huge amount of funds was invested into excavating it before we realized it was all a scam."
"And then there's the notorious Egyhazo Aventurine Case. He misled the Intelligentsia Guild into believing that the remains of Tayzzyronth the Imperator Insectorum were buried there. Despite the scholars being extremely cautious, they ultimately still fell into the trap."
"And let's not forget the letters from the councilors of the Sigonian Sovereignty. They denounce his tribe for once breaking agreements and sowing discord, leading to significant changes in the balance of peace between the tribes, resulting in repeated delays in the signing of agreements between Sigonia and IPC. Allowing such an employee to join at the IPC would be a severe detriment to public relations..."

"If these are the extent of the complaints, there's no need to tell me."

"...You already know it all?"

"Each gemstone holds unique value, and our task is to make investments."
"We don't need to appease those stubborn old-timers who sent in complaints, as these rumors will eventually reach... No, they would already have reached his ears. Well, let's take this chance and see how big of a surprise he can bring us."
n/a"You're quite something else, boy... I still can't figure out how you managed to empty out my entire business. But I will never surrender. If push comes to shove, I'll just blow up this whole place... What are you gonna do about it?"
The Mad Bull of Iymanika signals his followers to let go. He raises his head from the table, dusting off his collar.
"You arrogant dogs from the IPC never respected us wanderers, did you? But now that you're in our territory, you'll play by our rules."

Mad Bull empties the cylinder, putting only one bullet in the revolver, and tosses it to the other man's feet.
"Six shots. Fate will decide whether we live or die after a maximum of six shots. Do you have the nerve?"

The other man bends down and picks up the revolver.
"There are too many people who've pointed a gun at me. Some of them even just went ahead and pressed the trigger straight up... Now, guess how come I'm still standing here."
The man stands up, stares into the Mad Bull's eyes, raises the gun, and puts it against his own heart.
"It's because the gun will always end up in my hand."

"And now, this game is making me bored... One in six? That possibly is nowhere near enough. If you want to tempt fate..."
Six consecutive gunshots thunder out in the starship that is wrapped in a deathly silence. After the smoke clears, the man raises the gun again and walks toward Mad Bull. The revolver is now loaded with a fresh bullet.
"You need to learn how to turn yourself into a die first."
"...You won't surrender, but why? Because you have this lousy game of chance? Or..."
He points the gun into the darkness.
"Because of her?"

A woman holding a pistol emerges slowly from the direction the revolver points. The Mad Bull acts as if he found a lifeline when he sees her.
"Madam Jade, this is not what we agreed upon..."
At that moment, both of them opened fire simultaneously, and two figures dressed in black fall from the shadows behind each of them.

"The IPC has enemies everywhere, right?" The woman calmly holsters her pistol, takes out her cosmetic mirror, and inspects her appearance.
"You used our lives as bait, making them believe there was internal strife between us, and then you eliminated them all... A clever trick, although a bit reckless." He greets the woman with a smile, although his hands tremble slightly.

"Trick? No, it was just a test."
The elegant lady opens her palm, revealing a shimmering aventurine of peculiar hues.
"There's nothing strange about it. Gemstones are destined to be... desired, sought, cut, and sold."
"However, there's so much more you can do. It all depends on how you see yourself."
n/aHe walks into the room at the furthest end of the corridor, remembering how he was still a grotesque prisoner the last time he came here. Now, he stands with his back straight and faces those who sit at the very top of the department.

He listens to the blond woman as she reads out the lengthy and boring report. Those cold, unfeeling numbers cannot convey the dangers that accompanied him as he walked on the thin line between life and death, nor can they communicate how much he had lost and gained during the journey. He is simply curious whether she is human or an Intellitron.

The aventurine, that symbol of power and of the future, is about to be officially handed to him — Yet it would have no more allure or value in his eyes as soon he obtains it, even though he had sought it by putting his life on the line.

"Do you have any more questions, Aventurine?" Jade, the only person he knows among the presently gathered, asks at the end of the meeting.

"The Avgins in Sigonia... what happened to them afterward?"

"Unfortunately, there are no more Avgins in Sigonia. You're the last lucky dog."

"What about those people who helped me on planet ██? Now I can finally repay their kindness."

"They are no more, either."

...

He returns to his office in a daze. The aventurine stone emits a peculiar glow on his desk, seemingly congratulating and mocking him at the same time.
"Was luck truly on your side when you wrestled with fate?"
n/a"Penacony... Is Diamond finally ready to do something about it?"
The miniature model on the table continues to rotate, the crystalline memory bubble emitting tiny spheres of foam.

"This historic debt is utterly unimaginable. So, the profit involved is also... shockingly high."
The person in front of him has their back turned to him, gazing instead at the purplish-red sky of Pier Point at sunset.

"But why me?"
The person continues to face away from him. Keen though his eyes are, he can not decipher the true intentions behind the decision.

"It should have been me, but Diamond believes that The Family still had some value in cooperation and hopes this affair still has some room for a peaceful resolution."
"So, after some thought, I've concluded that you're the best candidate."

"This is only our second conversation ever. Do you trust me that much?"

"No, I've never trusted you. Perhaps Jade does, but I don't."
"Maybe luck won't be on your side this time, and the bill for all your past good fortune will come due."

Finally, the person in front of him turns around. The distant skyscraper reflects a kaleidoscope of colors like an opal stone, while a music box plays on its own.
"But isn't that what you've been longing for?"

  2. a few questions,
    1. Does the 3 turns shield count down by each unit’s/ally’s turn separately or on Aventurine’s turn(like Fu xuan) : (if it count downs on unit’s turn then he’s not nice with turn advance unit like Jinglui?)
    2. Does the 3 turns shield get 3 turn count down resetted by using skill again/using trace bonus after follow up attack? or each shield will stack but have duration count downed separately?

      • I don’t think he has to be nerfed because he’s pretty balanced in this status. However his damage output needs some buff because he doesn’t do any impactful damage for now.

        • I like to consider that characters such as Fu Xuan, widely considered the best support in the game, doesn’t really offer much else than sustain at E0S0 aside from 12%CR, so I don’t really expect Aventurine to be an insane damage dealer as long as he can solo sustain every content consistently. At the end of the day he’s as niche as a character can get, there’s no good reason to prefer him over Huohuo or Fu Xuan unless you’re playing a comp with Topaz.

My real issue with him right now is that he may, in fact, not be able to consistently clear everything. With Fu Xuan you can easily play around CCs by skilling, as long as you don’t make mistakes you won’t get stunned and waste time. With Aventurine, on the other hand, it feels like restarting a run may sometimes be required if, let’s say, the enemy has a gatekeeper in its first wave.

So yeah I kind of agree with you, if his CC control stays conditional and RNG based, then they should buff his DMG to prevent time loss when half of your team gets stunned. I hate the tunnel-visioned argument people make about Penacony enemies not being filled with CCs unlike Loufu ones, it’s not like Hoyo will get rid of all previous enemies because new ones released, and this also doesn’t mean that future enemies won’t have CCs.

Unfortunately though, as per usual Hoyo will only keep changing Acheron not to anger the kids who want her to deal billions of unconditional DPS and aren’t satisfied with her ulting every other cycle, just like they did with Jingliu.

          • Yeah his damage is just sad, and it’ll probably be kept low…

But I doubt he won’t be able to sustain, Fire MC can get you through all the content, Aventurine can definitely as well. Also as a Preservation unit he has higher agro, he himself is immune to CC and offers everyone a lot of Effect Ress. Unless you get unlucky your team probably wont get stunned more than with FU

Speaking of, I think you’re underselling why Fu Xuan is so insane. She basically makes worrying about enemies a bygone thought. Damage doesn’t exist anymore, CC even less so. She just makes your runs so consistent. And although not impressive on paper, that 12% crit rate buff just rounds up your (both) DPSes so nicely. Fu Xuan just does her job well, and most importantly she does it without a hiccup or clunkiness

I just wished he’s stand out in his own (damage) niche. Doubt they’ll bother since he’s quite hated, not a girl, and quite frankly sandwiched between hype units (Acheron, Sam, Sparkle, Re-Runs)… it’s a shame he was pretty, cuz he looks like dolphin bait to make highly specific teams just a tiny bit better.

          • Sadly the case when you have a highly anticipated waifu before. They prolly have low expectations for his banner’s revenue but perhaps we’ll get lucky and get a token damage buff of some kind. Oh well. I’m lacking in sustains and I don’t really like Fu Xuan so I’ll be getting him regardless. Just hope he at least doesn’t get worse.

          • That crit rate if i’m not wrong. Can stack with the buff from Sparkle lightcone. so that can add up to 22% crit rate in total. Making Fu Xuan very nice. For there is a noticable different in consistency. going from 70 to 82. Which someone like a E1 Seele and that can turn into 97% crit rate against anything 80% health or below. 100% with Sparkle lightcone. For crit rate does help to maintain better consistency with damage. Which given that crit rate is for the whole party. throw in her e1. Crit rate and crit damage for the whole party. Making your damage higher and more consistence. very nice.

      • Yeah picture most will just go for a single copy or maybe E1 and lightcone. That or e0 Light cone and maybe e1 or e2 on a rerun. For with all the tempting e1 and e2 out there. Think most will not go for e6. rather go for a extra copy or two of a character with a really good e1 or e2.

        • Yeah most accounts might benefit more from having a wider range of characters at low e levels. Over one at e6. Given you could power up alot of characters with Lightcones or grab a very good e1 for many characters over just one. Then again if you a wish whale, most likely doesn’t matter at all.

        • Let’s look at SW’s E6. She gains +20% damage amp per instance of debuff the enemy target has, +100% at maximum. That’s not only fewer than Aventurine’s E6 but also not unconditional. Very well eidolons nowadays are becoming stronger and stronger. I’m lucky because I don’t have the budget for eidolons anyway.

  3. So as someone with no Topaz and no interest in pulling her in the future, what are my options?
My best guess is something like Ratio+S1/Aven(likely also S1)/Pela/buffer? Second debuffer to ensure debuff uptime? Xueyi for her follow-up attack? My E2 Welt to help keep max imprison uptime? Either Sampo or Gui for Debuff+DoT?

Before now I have been a DoT/Nihility main since the game started so I don’t have a lot of investment in non-DoT team members. But if any of them would be options I have every one except BS.

    Also no Ruan Mei.

    • Technically, Kafka can work with Aventurine as she has a very consistent follow up attack and with E0 Aventurine there is a cap of 1 ally follow up attack for his talent stacks! But while she won’t benefit from his ult’s crit debuff, she will benefit from his S1 debuff! So that could be an option to slot him in your DoT team.

Now, assuming you’ll be E0S1 Aventurine, Dr. Ratio is enough to trigger Aventurine’s talent as mentioned above, which Ratio is more than capable of filling. So Aventurine will have 1 debuff from S1 and another potential debuff from his ult (please correct me as I am not sure if the extra crit damage taken counts as a debuff or not). You would need another debuff source as ideally 5 debuffs on the enemy ratio is attacking, so Pela or Welt works but Pela works a bit better since you have Ratio S1 and it gives him DEF ignore, so the more DEF shred you can stack the better (Welt can apply DEF shred with that one LC, but Pela would apply both that one and the ones in her kit). The last one can be any harmony that can buff Ratio. So perhaps Tingyun or even Hanya if you think you’ll struggle with SP.

Or you can go full Nihility and use Welt and Pela together. DEF shreds from her and slow and vulnerability from him. There is always a balance that can be struck between what you like and what’s optimal. Look at the characters you already have and see what you can use 😀

      Hope this helps!

But outside of this specific (basically triple dps) team it’s not as insane
S1 is just solid all around and easier to get

  5. I’m getting Aventurine e0s1, and assuming Aven and Topaz rerun together as some rumors, I wonder if I should pull for Topaz (and possibly her LC) or continue to get Aven’s eidolon (only for simp purpose)? Also I don’t have Ruan Mei. If I don’t pull for Topaz, what other team does he have good synergy with?

    • It’s a bit underwhelming without Topaz, for now Ratio and Clara are another good FUA characters, but Clara is a bit anti-synergistic with preservation. If you like FUA-style you probably should consider e1s0 Aventurine and a copy of Topaz if you can afford to spend that much gems in such short period of time. For now Topaz has the most synergy with him. His E1 looks significantly stronger than S1 in team with Topaz and Ratio, and while it seems like an overkill in some content it is a life-saver in other situations.

          • I mean, you can also use Trend of the Universal Market LC on Aventurine to get another debuff

          • well if nothing has changed, at the end of the main story in 2.3 new mc path will be one of the best supports for fua comps.
            mc supp
            topaz e1s0 (3 debuffs)
            dr.ratio e0 (1 debuff)
            aventuri e0s0 (2debuffs)
thats more then enough debuffs to trigger dr.ratios fua after skill and his 10% more dmg per debuff passive and every character does fuas like crazy for infinite aventuri shield and fua trigger.

but it will take a while for 2.3 new mc path.

    • Just skip Topaz and play Ratio monocarry for maximized cost efficiency. With enough budget this team will be more than enough for MoC but is simply not viable for PF. However you don’t have the budget in the first place. Both Topaz and Aventurine wants E1S1 at least in order to fit with Dr.Ratio perfectly.

However I don’t advice against pulling for Aventurine due to him being a generic shielder that is simply better than Gepard in maany cases. Even at E0S0 he is aleady good enough to keep your team survive.

      • To be more detailed:
        – Topaz E0S0 has one debuff at no condition. E1 and S1 each provides one more.
        – Aventurine E0S0 has one debuff by casting his ult which should have 100% up time once set up. S1 allows his FUA to add one more. E1 allows Dr.Ratio and Topaz to accelerate his FUA, maximizing their synergy.
        – Ruan Mei has one debuff by casting her ult and attacking an enemy.

          • That’s sad, because both Dr.Ratio + Topaz and Kafka + BS are dual carry builds that crave Ruan Mei. Just skip Topaz outright to save your jades for another team that does not crave for Ruan Mei so badly.

      • So Aven primarily for general shielding now then maybe make upgrades in the future…

I thought about it and I think I agree this way is better instead of getting topaz. You mentioned a good point with PF I didn’t consider at all, I reckon even with topaz the team isn’t the best structure for PF. I’ll probably just be flexible with teammates, use Ratio for MoC and herta for PF.

        • Dr.Ratio + Pela (RSASP) + TY + Aventurine should be a viable team for MoC. With the addition of Aventurine, Dr.Ratio may 100% his FUA more often.

Given the fact that you already have a fully crewed DoT team, you should be able to defeat most contents in the game with no issue.

          • Yeah I’ll probably just make the premium dot team finish their side ASAP to give more breathing room for budget Ratio hypercarry squad in MoC. And for PF find another solution.

The 3x mommy team is definitely solid overall for everything, I think it’ll last a long time and be competitive even if more Acheron-like chars come out in the future.

    • It depends on your available characters.
Aventurine is just like Fu Xuan and Huohuo in terms of sustaining, they do not only provide healing/shielding/mitigation but also extra stats (Huohuo’s ATK and energy, Fu Xuan’s Crit Rate).
He can easily solo sustain all content but his E0S0 isn’t any better than the aforementioned characters, while he truly spikes as E1S1 when paired with Topaz and Ratio.
I bet you have Huohuo with your DoTs team so she’s out of the equation, and if you also have Fu Xuan then you should probably just skip him if you’re standing on no jades and waiting for other characters.
On the other hand, if Aventurine would be your first 5* limited sustainer for Topaz’ team, or even a replacement for Luocha (which unfortunately doesn’t really provide anything aside from sustain), he’d be very valuable and especially fun to play.
Considering that you’re also currently not owning Topaz though, it may be very risky to go for both, it’s a tough situation and a shame to miss either.

      • For me I don’t have Diviner Fu yet so it’s either Aven or her to fulfil the role of a preservation sustain. Probably Aven since like you said they both are great, just a case of niches they are better at (AoE nuke vs single target focused dmg). And design wise I like Aven more.

It’s very hard haha since so many characters post 2.0 are looking very viable… it just seems like Topaz might be an enabler for FUA just like Kafka for DoTs therefore a central piece. I’ll probably make the final decision for her when she reruns based on jade supply/any future leaks.

        • I wouldn’t really take Fu Xuan’s AoE into account since it’s pretty awful and not worth sacrificing HP for, but she’s still one of the most comfortable picks and one of the few counters to enemies going all-in on a single teammate.

2nd half is very true though, while Topaz doesn’t really shine nor as a DPS or as an enabler at E0S0, she’s an absolute necessity for FUAs at E1S1, unlike Kafka who’s also perfect at E0S0, and this really doesn’t help your situation either… I don’t really know what’s the best idea for you right now, you pretty much need the whole team except for Ratio, and FUA is probably the most sig. lightcone dependant out of the different teams (on top of the busted E1s most of these characters have).

          • Oh for AoE what I meant was, for defence Fu Xuan is better at mitigating one shot KOs and ST focused fire while Aventurine seems more suited for defending against big AoE attacks from enemies. As well as maybe him preventing you from dying from heavy enemy DoT like many stacks of wind shear. It’s close between the two for me in terms of gameplay, so the character design is the deciding factor.

I was hoping to make a solid team for all the different playstyles in the game aside from standard dps carry i.e. DoT, FUA, maybe break dmg so therefore logically you want the key pieces for each of these equations. But it seems plans for a great FUA team will have to be shelved for the far future. Someone else said to just build a budget Ratio team for now, which is what I’ll probably do and see what happens later on.

        • If you are determined to get Topaz one day, don’t be anxious about her eidolons or light cone.

Topaz at E0 provides +50% FUA vulnerability. Vulnerability is a rare kind of modifier and usually has no diminishment which means she provides an outright 1.5x damage multiplier to Dr.Ratio’s FUA no matter how diminishing other kind of modifiers are for most of the cases. This is the core value she has.

Her E1 and S1 provides some additional crit damage, which does something for Dr.Ratio but isn’t as cost efficient as just stopping at E0S0. However, stopping here means Topaz can only apply one kind of debuff to the enemy while Dr.Ratio is asking for three debuffs, meaning you probably have to choose a nihility path character for the 3rd member. DoT characters are suboptimal while Welt is just as SP hungry as Dr.Ratio, leaving you devoid of options but Pela and Silver Wolf. So why do you want Topaz E1S1? Because you want the 3rd member to be a Harmony like Ruan Mei, the best dual carry support so far. You are paying for freedom in team building.

Please remember, “Dr.Ratio + Topaz E1S1 + Ruan Mei” is a deluxe team that is meant for someone with the money. This is not what Dr.Ratio has to be.

Eidolons and light cones in this game either mean more damage or an expanded team building options. Topaz E1S1 is an example of the latter case. A more obvious example is Archeron’s E2.

Kafka’s sig lc is an example as well. With only Kafka E0S0 and Black Swan in the team you have only 2 kind of debuffs. To receive full effect from the dedicated DoT relic set and Black Swan’s A4 trace, you either need a 3rd DoT in the team or Kafka’s light cone. Kafka’s light cone opens up the opportunity to include Ruan Mei in the team, the best dual carry support so far.

          • Wow thanks for the detailed breakdown, this was really helpful. There’s definitely a lot of compromises that need to be considered listed above. Right now for sure the priority is Aven and if Topaz reruns alongside him I think there is enough to try a 50/50.

In general, I’ll just take it slow with a functioning useable team for now (like TY/Pela/Aven/Ratio you mentioned previously) and gradually upgrade the FUA team by picking up better pieces one at a time.

        • Adding to what everyone else has said, always remember that even if a team you’re using is technically suboptimal does not mean you won’t be able to clear stuff. (well MoC, PF really does need AoE but we get an S+ unit for that for basically free).

          • Yeah definitely for sure. I’m doing ok overall since the 3x mommy dot team is hard carrying performance by demolishing their half of MoC/PF. But the other side… yeah. It’s made me kinda regret coming to the game so late as I literally started when HuoHuo was released and missed so much stuff. Also why I don’t have Topaz for Ratio 🙁 At least reruns aren’t spaced too far away and great characters are coming out all the time.

          • Which Pure fiction has made characters like Himeko a power house. Giving a good reason to build them up. Which can make these loss 50/50 less this sucks and more. Oh my lord. Yes I have an awesome unit for this game mode.

Can make him not generation as many skill points as Gepard. Gepard would still be better at generating skill points. Which yes he does benefit from being able to cast his shield whenever needed. Rather than being tied to a ultimate. It starting off weaker, could be a negative. Depending on how hard the enemy hits and how easy it is to trigger the bonus, to make his shields better than Gepard.

Do often give him all the energy he needs to refresh his shields and solo carry a team, with shields up all the time. Unless your running him with someone super fast like Seele. Even then, it might still be possible. At least with the new tv enemies that give large amounts of energy back.

Which yeah his freeze, depending on how much effect hit you build or if e1. Can be very useful. A enemy can’t hurt you, if it can’t move.

Gepard also more vulnerable to CC as well, and he he’s is CC, then he can’t ult.

Given Sparkle originally was going have five crit rate to the whole party. Than that got change to be attack % boost. Which while Aventurine being able to resist cc is nice. Once every two turns for himself. His boost to the allies is also nice but still makes it a bit of a coin flip. So yeah better than Gepard in terms of that.

Now in terms of skill points. Characters like Hanya and Sparkle can help generate them. So depending on the team make up. His skill point usage might not be a issue.

Ratio + Topaz + Ruan Mei + Aventurine

      RM buffs everyone

      Topaz debuff benefits everyone

Aventurine gives sustain and advance forward for Numby when even one of his FuA hits the enemy marked by Numby.

Another thing to note is that Topaz + Ratio is Single Target focused, while Aventurine actually benefits from having multiple enemy in waves. Its a smart way to sorta patch up the teams weakness to multi wave.

And ofc Ratio benefits from everyone. I have topaz at E0S1 so with her, RM Ult debuff, and Aventurine ult debuff, Ratio will be much more comfier.

Overall very excited. My decision to pull for Topaz in anticipation for a FuA team and Kafka for future DoT teams paid off, since i was uninterested by the various Hypercarry DPS teams

Aventurine with E2S1 is able to apply many debuffs in different actions
Topaz with E1S1 is able to apply really good debuffs for followup damage units
Ratio is the one doing the heavy damage here and also applies a debuff every turn

What happens if we squeeze Acheron into the team? I know she wants Nihility units to do a ton more damage but wouldn’t she still be a good subdps here? I know Acheron wouldn’t be the best in slot final team member here but with all the constant debuff application she could probably use her ult A LOT right??

Sounds like a fun idea if anything, even if not optimal.

I think the fastest would be swapping Ratio for Kafka with PAYN, this way all 3 characters would be able to apply a debuffs both on their own turn and with FUA (and ult except for Topaz, but her FUA frequency should compensate).

        • A general rule:

From current gameplay we CAN conclude that PAYN’s wording is weird and it only prevents you to apply 2 instances of the same debuff through 2 lightcones, not preventing you to reapply and refresh the debuff

from what we can test with ruan mei + pioneer set interaction, any permanent debuff (topaz) only counts as a debuff the FIRST TIME you apply it. i tested this by putting ruan mei on pioneer (which should work the same way) and noticed how you can only see the effect trigger if the enemy already didnt have her flower.
