TitleText
n/aA member of the Masked Fools. Inscrutable and unscrupulous.
A dangerous maestro of theatrics, utterly engrossed in the art of performance. Adorned with innumerable masks, she is the hero with a thousand faces.
Wealth, status, power... None of those matters to Sparkle. The only thing that can get her attention is "amusement."
n/aThe girl, an abandoned orphan, lived without knowledge of her origins or destination until she encountered a passing troupe. From a distance, she watched a black-haired lady with a double ponytail, gracefully moving across the stage like a fish. Despite donning various masks, they did not hinder her laughs and cries during her performance, captivating the audience even from afar. The fish leaped in front of her, then dove back down, creating ripples in the surface of the water.

Gradually, she realized she was watching the performance from beneath the stage.

Intrigued, she continued to watch the performances for countless days, but she remained an audience member, never stepping into the spotlight. After one of the shows ended, she went backstage, where the black-haired lady handed her a mask.
"Can I perform, too?"
"Why not? If others believe you are 'Sparkle,' then you are. Go, it's time for your show."

As the curtain, serving as the fourth wall, was drawn, the stage remained dimly lit, revealing an unsettling black void. Though wearing a mask, she knew the audience could see and hear her. She kept recalling Sparkle's performance, imitating her movements, voice, and demeanor.

"You've done very well for your first time."
"But my imitation... Was not perfect."
"That is a minor hiccup, but not a problem as long as nobody notices the difference... By the way, we are leaving tomorrow, so for as long as you want, you are the true Sparkle here, and you can make her whoever you want her to be."

Sparkle wanted to say something, but the lady affectionately rubbed her head.
"Not many people come to see us, except for you. We're just a small troupe, and we don't have grand aspirations of becoming famous in the cosmos... It brings me joy to meet someone like you who will remember an insignificant character named Sparkle... Don't cry, you can keep this mask. Now it's yours."
Sparkle nodded.
"When you don this mask, you have the power to become anyone and no one... If you truly aspire to be an actor, don't limit yourself to this small stage. Set your sights on the larger world and explore new horizons."
n/aAs the last descendant of the Puppet Clan, the girl lacked the freedom to choose. She was bound to live her life according to the dictates of the mask, as puppets were mere vessels for the masks.

According to their legend, the longer a puppet dons a mask, the higher the chances of the puppet acquiring a soul, resembling a true human. However, in human folklore, masks were depicted as tools used for resurrecting the deceased, thus leading to the dwindling numbers of her people.

However, as she had no interest in becoming human, being a doll was not an unfavorable choice for her. She dutifully obeyed the commands of the mask, despite the risk of attracting pursuers, as defying the mask proved to be challenging.

Movement was a crucial aspect.
By the will of the mask, she needed to smile sweetly when happy, hold her forehead while crying, grit her teeth when angry, narrow her eyes when jealous, and make a scene when in despair. There were also signature gestures, such as raising her eyebrows slightly to face others with the left side of her face, and raising her hand to express love, although she had to lower it later, as slightly biting her lower lip was the way to convey her true desires.

Voice was another aspect.
Depending on the situation, her voice needed to be cheerful when happy, mellifluous when expressing lyrical emotions, calm and assertive when making statements, strained when harboring hatred, and sorrowful when filled with grief.

Remarkably, she managed to sustain this way of life for years, seamlessly blending into her surroundings and even becoming a playwright. Nobody ever suspected that she wore a mask. However, she couldn't help but wonder if there existed another type of "mask" in the world — perhaps someone wearing such a mask would laugh when seeking revenge, shed tears when smiling, remain silent when raging... And speak the most sarcastic remarks with the utmost calmness.

Naturally, she couldn't do this due to the will of the mask, but as a playwright, making her characters on stage act like this was easy for her.

One morning, the doorbell rang, but it wasn't her usual delivery person at the door.
"Dear Miss Sparkle, I wonder if we could have a chat?"
"We have read your latest work, and we're curious if you know anything about the 'Mask'..."

n/aThe faceless girl realized that she must be under some kind of curse. Why else couldn't she feel any stimuli? Her sense of pain, taste, and smell were all intact, yet she was unable to react to them. Naturally, she couldn't experience joy, anger, sadness, or a range of emotions. She could only strive to observe others' reactions in various situations to understand their feelings.

"...How would you feel if you were drinking a cup of bitter tea? How would you drink it?"
Although tied to the chair and immobilized, the homeless man on the left made an appreciative gesture and nodded. The girl in the middle immediately cried and shook her head in denial, while the madam on the right wrinkled her nose in disgust.

"What if you were in an extremely cold hut, with only this cup of tea at hand?"
Naturally, the man nodded. The girl cried for a while and then reluctantly accepted, while the lady still reacted in disgust.

She continued to change her scenarios and ask questions day and night until her interviewees passed out. She would send them home and seek out new targets for her "interviews."

During that time, the town's inhabitants all had the same nightmare. They found themselves trapped in a place where a blurred-faced young girl politely asked them questions, and they had no choice but to answer. They could only provide responses repeatedly until the young girl meticulously recorded every detail on paper masks, one after another. Whenever a mask was filled, it was replaced by another.

This nightmare was soon replaced by another, as residents claimed to see paper masks flying through the air in the middle of the night. The masks would talk to each other, faintly glowing before eventually fading out, resembling sparklers in the night sky. They appeared every night, as if they were residents living in the shadow of the town.

In a dark basement, a young lady remained unaware of this nightmare. She had gathered enough information about people's nuanced emotions and their perceptions of different things... To make more paper masks. She firmly believed that although she possessed no emotions, the masks she created had flesh and blood. She even believed that one day, they would become real beings.
n/a"There are a few versions that are particularly popular." When Sparkle arrived at Fool's Tavern, she admitted her deeds. "Liking and believing are two different things, but people are more likely to believe in their favorite stories."

"Lies? Come on, I'm not trying to tell a grand story or fabricate an eye-catching experience... I'm wholeheartedly exercising my imagination for my own sake. I imagine various lives, seek excitement, and then recreate them as best I can, and pump the brakes on my imaginative balloon just a second before it bursts."

"Seriously, having a script is far from enough. First and foremost, I must wholeheartedly believe that the character I'm portraying truly exists. Then, I need to imagine the other stories where the character would appear. I always need extra information to make their motivation logical and emotional."

"And only then will I feel I can grasp the essence of the character without being influenced by others. After all, I might encounter other Fools, and I won't know what they want until I know who they are. Sometimes, you simply like the appearance of a character, and sometimes, you just want to experience it for fun. I do that sometimes, too."

"And of course, there are those who play solely for the sake of gain or to be regarded in that way, hoping for unimaginable wealth, status, or power... Anyway, what I'm trying to convey is that in such an environment, who but myself can guarantee that I won't stray from my intended path and become a character in someone else's story? Nobody! That's why I have to tirelessly imagine and immerse myself in the act."

"No, I'm not denying it... It's truly addictive to me. The more I imagine, the more I get absorbed in those characters, the wonderful and tragic situations I create for them, and the emotions they experience in those circumstances..."

"Sure, I used to think about that kind of life... Joining a troupe, becoming an actor, traveling to unknown planets for performances, creating a character with my own name on it... But then, one day, I had a sudden realization!"

"If you want to perform, is there a stage more captivating than your own life?"

    • Wait till V3. V2 came out with no changes, which means they are considering bigger changes that will come with V3. You can almost surely expect big V3 changes if V2 doesn’t change anything. I’m going to stop suggestions from here on out until V3 is here and we see the new and updated kit. Think of it like this.

      V1 – Kit Reveal
      V2 – Slight changes/No changes.
      V2 – Slight changes/Big changes
      V3 – No changes/No or Slight changes.

This doesn’t always work out this way, but typically if there is nothing new at all with V2, then V3 will give some drastic changes. At least from what i’ve read.

  2. @Reina — I was looking back on my old sheets, double checked with the wiki, and then retested in-game to reaffirm things… and I think you’ve got this one wrong. You seem to be missing a crucial point.
    – – – – –
AV Changes uses your Current Base AV (which would then be based on your Current Spd), *not* Current AV which is what’s on the turn order.
    – – – – –
You can test this for yourself in the FUA/DoT set cavern, throw in a Dance Dance Dance while you’re at it. As long as their Spd doesn’t change, you get the same amount of AV Change. Heck, you can even throw in Welt in those test runs and test Action Delays against the enemies. Very easy to find their Spd in the wiki.

I was wondering why no one was claiming that Sparkle can effectively advance a lower Spd character to 0 AV behind her — of course, barring certain circumstances that heavily delays your DPS’s AV way beyond their Base AV.
But yes, that means she can play *exactly* like fast Bronya + slow DPS, which allows her to use BtBIO or Past and Future perfectly.

The rule of thumb here is that Sparkle’s Spd shouldn’t be more than double the Spd of the DPS she wants to advance, which is incredibly hard to pull off anyway. To give a drastic example:
    — 201 Spd Sparkle has a Base AV of 49.75
    — 91 Spd Clara has a Base AV of 109.89.
    — During Sparkle’s turn, the Clara below her would be at 60.14 Current AV.
    — Using Skill and subtracting 50% of her Base AV (54.95) leaves her at 5.19 AV.

But let’s put someone with a bit more Base Spd that’s just barely over half of Sparkle’s 201 Spd
    — DHIL at 102 Spd. He’d have a Base AV of 98.04.
    — During Sparkle’s turn, his Current AV will be 48.29. Using Skill, subtracting 50% of his Base AV (49.02) puts him at 0 AV, just directly after Sparkle.

Now how about a scenario where your DPS got debuffed in one way or another and had their AV increased.
Once again, I’ll use DHIL for the example, and let’s assume he got hit by Strong Reverberation (70% Delay). Technically he wouldn’t be able to act once he gets his turn, but that’s not the point.
    — At a 70% Delay, based on his Base AV, he’ll end up with 58.3333 added to his Current AV.
    — By Sparkle’s turn, his AV would be 83.33 + 58.33 – 49.75 = 95.92
    — Using Skill, the 50% Advancement kicks in, his new Current AV is at 49.89 which is actually higher than Sparkle’s (who has 49.75 Base AV due to her 201 Spd)
    — This means Sparkle takes another turn before DHIL can, him being only DPS>Sparkle>DPS>DPS.
    — Having *at least* 136 Spd on Sparkle and 138 Spd on the DPS allows your DPS 11 total turns within 5 Cycles (550 AV). For comparison, if you were to play fast Sparkle, you have 8 turns at 146+, 9 turns at 164+, 10 turns at 182+, and 11 turns at 200+.

Whether that’s worth or not, well, anyone’s free to think and compute for themselves and their own use cases. Lots of variables here so I don’t want to really bother declaring anything.

Anyway, here’s the first few turns using the Spd I suggested:
    : 72.46 AV
    ( Sparkle t1 ): 73.53 AV
    : t1 AV + base AV – base AV*0.5 which is… 144.93 – 36.23 = 108.69 AV
    ( Sparkle t2 ): 147.06 AV
    : following the formula before… 181.16 – 36.23 = 144.93 AV (!)
The DPS’s new AV being less than Sparkle’s means they hit 0 AV here. Having higher Spd than Sparkle, the DPS is ahead of Sparkle in the next turn.
    : Sparkle t2 AV + DPS base AV which is… 147.06 + 72.46 = 219.52 AV

    • Whoops, didn’t consider brackets might disappear. Here’s the last part.
      [ DPS t1 ]: 72.46 AV
      ( Sparkle t1 ): 73.53 AV
      [ DPS t2 ]: t1 AV + base AV – base AV*0.5 which is… 144.93 – 36.23 = 108.69 AV
      ( Sparkle t2 ): 147.06 AV
      [ DPS t3 ]: following the formula before… 181.16 – 36.23 = 144.93 AV (!)
The DPS’s new AV being less than Sparkle’s means they hit 0 AV here. Having higher Spd than Sparkle, the DPS is ahead of Sparkle in the next turn.
      [ DPS t4 ]: Sparkle t2 AV + DPS base AV which is… 147.06 + 72.46 = 219.52 AV

    • Actually now that I look at it, more parts are missing. Seems like my use of brackets got parts nuked. Here they go…

      — By Sparkle’s turn, his AV would be 83.3333 + 58.3333 – 49.7512 = 95.91545
      — Using Skill, the 50% Advancement kicks in, his new Current AV is at 49.8959 which is actually higher than Sparkle’s (who has 49.7512 Base AV due to her 201 Spd)
      — This means Sparkle takes another turn before DHIL can, him being only under 1 AV behind Sparkle.

      = = = = = = = = = =
But here’s what a lot want to know…
What about a DPS faster than Sparkle? Basically, Spd Tuned build.
      = = = = = = = = = =
      — Every other time that Sparkle uses her Skill, the DPS will actually hit 0 AV directly after her, causing the DPS’s next turn to be ahead of Sparkle. This creates the “double turn” effect, roughly half the time. You’ll see the pattern of Sparkle>DPS>Sparkle>DPS>DPS.

[ Then it continues from here ]

    • I’ve done so much communication with a set of friends, and every time we talked about Sparkles advance it was always based around the theory that her advance would count current AV and not total AV. Tbh, i’ve never used a limited advance apart from Seele’s normal that would always be at max AV after using it so reducing that by 20% AV was always going to happen regardless. But going into the game and using Dance! Dance! Dance! for the first time ever has in fact shown me otherwise. Over the last 10 days i must have talked about Sparkle to around 30 people and not one of them having an issue with what i was saying. :hmm:

This is both intriguing because it completely changes up what i’ve been saying even if not completely, and also annoying because it means i’ve been spreading some level of misinformation that some people won’t see until they have her. Also btw AV never goes into the decimals. it always scales upward. So 49.1 would be 50. They like to keep things simple. I know that because i was literally talking about the AV changes with someone that knows a lot about it and even they didn’t correct my thinking of Sparkles Advance being current and not total AV. @_@ How annoying.

OK SO! This means 3 things.

      1. You can still use drag Sparkle, but this way at an even better level than before. Since Sparkle will always make the DPS acts right after her instead of still needing to wait the remaining AV. You just need to make sure that Sparkle isn’t twice as fast as the DPS and Sparkle will drag the DPS to the top of the turn order as long as they are not more than 50% of their own advance away. Effectively making Sparkle a poor Bronya. (Some people use a Drag Bronyu as well so in this way they will be the same.)

2, You can actually use Sparkle as a turn enhancer to chars with greater speed than her, however these turns will be unbuffed from her skill and be inconsistent in their appearances.

      3. You REALLY don’t want your DPS to be only a touch bit slower than her, since then once again her advance does almost nothing unless they get delayed. But as Sparkle does not cleanse like Bronya does, it’s still going to be somewhat annoying to encounter.

Fortunately the drag strat still holds true, but it’s even better than i thought and the cost of having your DPS close to Sparkles speed but slower is still the same as what i said before. However, it seems Seele at the very least does want to be faster, allowing you to at least get off normal’s to both boost SP and to make even better use of Sparkles advance. It seems as if the old theory i had that was also disproven may be back into effect, but in the opposite rotation. :hmm:

Thanks for the correction, where you to 9 days ago. ;-; Lets just hope they don’t change the formula with Sparkle. I think i may report my own post to have it deleted for misinformation, and then make a new post both about the new potential of her advance and about the drag strat that does actually still work. Having a DPS have more speed than Sparkle is still going to be difficult, so not everyone can do it and as such, using Drag Sparkle at least Imo is still the most effective strat, with only Seele really making maximum use of the extra turns. I say this because using the speed 4/pc set is going to be Sparkles best set and i’m sure almost everyone who’s building her has already started on it. Speed boots and the 6% boost puts Sparkle at a minimum of 132, 144 at E1 or after ult and 156 at E1 and with ult.

      • It seems they only “sort of” understood what i was saying. As such they didn’t feel they could correct me. They liked the drag strat i made anyways as it still allows for a stronger base DPS with turns based on Sparkles speed rather than the DPS speed and are still going to use it.

Seems the only ppl really effected by the misinformation would have been Seele users.

      • Moving forward works such if current AV is greater than the base AV, reduce % of current AV; otherwise, reduce % of base AV.

That’s to say, if your character is delayed by -1000%, an effect that says move forward 100% is enough to put it on top of the action meter.

Also, if your character has already advanced 50% on its own, an effect thay says move forward 50% is enough to put it on top of the action meter. This can also be confirmed by the behavior of Topaz & Numby.

  3. Sparkle drag strat seems to be wierd, but really efficent.

She does want or ask that you have a seperate relic set just for her, so more relic fun.

Bronya asks some speed tuning, in exchange for her cleanse utility

Sparkle if she gets disabled can cause the team to brick a bit.

mind you safety is the first thing you disreguard once you start optomizing, but easy of play will probably be with Bronya. (Not sure)

Mass amounts of disruption that over takes your clensing / resistance / negates, causes more havoc on a sparkle team, since if she is taken out of rotation your slow Carry can have some issues becoming a punching bag. (then again everyone hates disruption, so a kinda moot point)

SP eating enemies also possibly hurt her more on paper, since even though she provides 4 SP on Ult, she uses those SP for her own rotation. compared to Bronya who’s teams tend to be on low SP economy anyways, so even though the team is really hungry there isnt’ supposed to be spare SP sitting around to get taken. (this might be cope)

Auto battle is kinda a wierd thing to bring up. but there is a good chance her auto battle AI will be derp (also at least 1 redditer complaining about sparkle ulting right before Phantilia flowers, eating the SP).

Sparkle’s Mono qunat trace is kinda sad, but not terrible. it’s pretty good actually, since her best partners are probably SW and FX. and then the Carry can be off element, and your a viable hyper carry team (they don’t benefit from the quant damge part is sad, It would be nice QOL if it was instead a Damage % boost), and SW gets some nice stats.)

I tend to be more a DoT team focus so I might end up skipping her, but she’s very strong as would be expected of a limited harmony (but she does make you dance to her tune, which is very fitting for her character). as she won’t particulaly strengthen my FUA team either, Ratio SW Topaz / Topaz Clara triple/dual DPS teams.

    • If she gets disabled it can hurt a bit, but if you play her with FX which i suggest it’s a lot rarer to happen since FX stops CC from happening in the first place. Doing so will stop any of that nonsense from being an issue. Overall since Sparkle is still SP positive at the end of the day you still actually have plenty of SP to use. Your DPS may use 6, but between the 2 other chars you shouldn’t really have a problem. Over 6 turns Sparkle is +2SP then you have FX which is +2Sp over 6 turns and then you just have to try and gains 2SP with the last member which for mono quantum would be SW.

Using her with FX and getting her LC gives your fully party 27% crit chance. Which allows you to build into even more attack. So it’s not even to avoid disruption effects.

  5. Sparkles advance works on a turn by turn basis. it does not grant extra turns. As a result if you don’t skill with her every other turn, not only is your DPS not getting buffed, they could be skipping a turn entirely depending how you have your Sparkle and DPS built. The way Sparkles buffs work and the way her advance works. She heavily suggests the user to play with a very high attack% DPS with very slow speed. The reason for this is attack% is the one buff she does not grant, but she gives a LOT of other stats. And i’m going to give an example of how her advance works. These AV numbers i’m throwing out are just an example, i’m not going to use the actual numbers just to show you in the best way i can how her advance is meant to work. In this scenario your Sparkle has 180 speed and your DPS has 92 speed. You can see the difference the speed here would make. It would almost surely allow Sparkle 2 turns for every turn the DPS would get, yet with how Sparkles advance works, this just won’t happen and this is an example of how.

    Sparkle AV 50
    DPS AV 98.

Sparkle goes which means her AV is 0. She is currently acting. Sparkle uses her skill advance.

DPS is at AV48, a 50% advance on this AV will reduce it to 24, Sparkles AV is now at 50.

Then turn advances to when it’s the DPS turn, that’s 24 AV forward. DPS is now at 0 AV, Sparkle is at 24 AV. DPS acts, and goes back to 98 AV.

Turn advances when it’s Sparkles turn. Sparkles AV is now at 0, DPS AV is now at 74. Now, if you don’t skill with Sparkle here, Sparkle will advance by 50 AV to now be INFRONT of the DPS. In other words, if you don’t skill here, your DPS will not only NOT get buffed. But will also LOSE an ENTIRE turn. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT!

So what do we do? WE SKILL! Skilling here will advance your DPS from 74 to 37. Which is LESS than Sparkles 50 after turn. After using skill .

DPS turn. DPS is at 0 AV, Sparkle is at 13 AV. DPS uses their turn, AV advances again. Sparkle is now at AV 0, DPS is now at AV 85.

Sparkle uses skill again, DPS now moves down to 43 advance. Sparkle is at 50 AV. DPS move yet again, before Sparkle can act twice.

Now in this example, you may see that the DPS is moving further and further away from Sparkle, as a result it looks as if Sparkle’s AV will sooner or later catch up to the DPS AV. But that’s not how it works. The more AV you have, the move that 50% advance works. At the end of the day, no matter how much faster Sparkle is, no matter what AV the DPS is at when Sparkle uses her skill, the DPS AV will always be 49 or under. While Sparkle will always go to 50 after her turn.

Now if you don’t skill every turn, because of the MASSIVE speed difference. Sparkle would act 2x for every 1x action the DPS has. If this is how you intend to play, you’re just not using her right.

Now you could say “What if the DPS and Sparkle has simular speed to stop the DPS from falling behind when Sparkle does not skill?” I’d say, fair enough, but then that means not ONLY are you giving your DPS speed over attack% that makes your base DPS weaker, but you’re making Sparkles advance do nothing at all. In other words, if your DPS speed is just as fast as Sparkle, the advance in her kit does not benefit you at all.

Now if you have Seele, this is fine, the advance is not going to buff Seele at all. I’ve already accepted this. You want Seele to be at 160 speed regardless simply because of her LC buff. However, because of how Seele works, she does not really need to build into speed at all. Infact with Seele using E1 Sparkle, Seele only needs 3 speed stats at all to be at her 160 speed.

Have i given Sparkle too much speed here? Probably, you’re probably maxing out at around 160, not 180. (Though you CAN reach 180 with the help of E1.) Your DPS also won’t be at just 92 speed. This is also very true. Your probably have a minimum of around 105 speed with no speed buffs. But what i’ve done here is given you the most extreme example so you can see that Sparkles advance if used every turn, will never allow your DPS to move slower than her. Now can you normal with her sometimes and not move in front of your DPS? Sure, and if that happens it’s not AS bad. But it is still pretty bad. As it’s now going to be awhile before that can happen again and if you’re forced to normal because you have 0 SP well… your dps WILL lose a turn.

I plan to speed-tune Yukong to be the fastest in the team, followed with Sparkle, Luocha, and lastly Danheng.

Assuming my Luocha has 126 speed.

Can Sparkle skill advance forward Danheng, enough to allow him get above Luocha? In order to receive Yukong’s buff that is.

I’d advise going with Pela instead and normal attacking with her every turn also. The combo of Loucha and Pela will grant the SP needed for DHIL to skill every turn, while Sparkle also skills every turn to give him the advance and damage buff he needs to absolutely destroy the enemies that also have lower def thanks to Pela. Pela is 100% the better character to put in this team.

If what you’re going for is a more heavy imaginary team, and Pela is already used on your team 2, then ig you have no choice. But you’re going to be spamming normal with her and never really getting her buff.

        • Let me put it this way. If your DPS moves right after Sparkle, the advance from her kit isn’t doing anything. The advance will reduce current AV by 50%, not maximum AV.

If your DPS is faster, it can allow you to use it in a way where you use your DPS first, to then go down to the bottom of the AV list to then advance them forward to gain some effect, but during that DPS turn they will be unbuffed, and the advance gets worse and worse until your DPS surpasses Sparkle again which could literally take 20 turns. You don’t want to build speed on your DPS for an extra turn in 20.

Sparkle does not rely on a specific light cone. She is powerful on her own and an ERR rope is all she needs to guarantee an ult per 3 actions. However her light cone is pretty powerful by giving a massive +10% crit and effectively +30% crit dmg to your main DPS. Whether it is worth it to pull for a bit more damage depends on you.

If you ask me I would say: I will pull for sparkle and neither pull for ruan mei’s light cone nor sparkle’s. I would suggest farming for some high break effect pieces for ruan mei.
