n/a | A scholar of exquisite temperament, member #81 of the illustrious Genius Society, and an expert in the field of life sciences. She earned Nous' attention with her talent and terrifying perseverance, and began her research on the origin of life in a secretive corner of the universe. Subsequently, she was invited by Herta to collaborate with Screwllum and Stephen to develop the Simulated Universe. Privately, she revels in traditional theater and desserts, and she is also very interested in embroidery. |
n/a | During her childhood, she received early exposure to science from her mother, who was a "scientist." Her life in a tiny house with her family of science enthusiasts was filled with love. As such, it wasn't long before she realized there were subtle differences in "love," each kind coming with different scents. Her grandmother with silver hair was a fan of traditional theater with its humming and chirping, while her father wore a pair of large, furry boots. Her parents loved each other, but they still argued from time to time. She was an impassive girl who made mistakes all the time, but was also forgiven all the time. "I was closer with Aunt Arlice compared to my other relatives, as she would buy me snacks. Her love was the best." Soon, the young girl learned to be stubborn. Her understanding of "love" broke away from the formulae taught in textbooks. As she grew older, her mother became strict with her. Together, they walked one step at a time on a vast glacial planet. The girl gasped and stopped on the way, carefully observing the fantastical and enchanting "lifeforms" buried beneath the glaciers - What used to be lifeforms, at least. Every time she arrived home after going on scientific expeditions, it was time for "rewards" — When she took a small bite of the cake, the mouthwatering aroma would immediately cling to the roof of her mouth. Her insignificant anticipation always gave her mother's research an inviting smell. Starting from their home, a planet blessed by Abundance, they boarded research aircraft and set off to more worlds. Surrounded by flash bombs, silk headscarves, ribbons, and embroidery, the girl embraced joy amongst "lifeforms" created by spiraling and ascending data. "A-Ruan, after eating Qingtuan, you must wash your fingers thoroughly before you can touch the lab bench." |
n/a | She was dressed all in black in a mourning attire at her parents' funeral. As usual, she still tied her hair neatly. Her expression was hidden behind her ink-black strands of hair. She did not shed a single tear. As the night fell, layers of geometric patterns formed by data spirals appeared on the screen in the lab. They shifted, expanded, and flowed along with the sound of traditional theater songs. After peeling away the layers of the patterns, the secret she meticulously crafted and protected with care was revealed — her parents with their eyes closed. Their faces were as impassive as if they were asleep. "This is a let-down. They failed to keep their promise with Grandma." "And I, too, let them down for failing to protect them as promised." "Only science... never lets anyone down," she said. Wanting her parents to be equal, she stopped using her previous nickname and gave herself a new name by combining each of her parents' surnames. Since then, whenever someone asked her about her "home," there would be a flash of confusion in her eyes. She seems to have forgotten everything. In such a state, she started working around the clock on her calculations. She was so engrossed in her research that she never ate regularly. When she was on a roll, she could spend entire days and nights working on research without sleeping, and only dozed off when she hit her limit. Soon, she was only relying on the faint glow of fyreflies to gather her research results every night. The more dismissive she was of the existing laws of life, the quicker she progressed. She totally disregarded formulas, then moved on to ignoring the meaning of life. She simply observed, assessed with her hands, held the data in her palm to feel it, then proceeded to concoct new laws for species. As a result, the ferns and flowers in her lab flourished ever more. They grew at a speed visible to the human sight, and ultimately filled every space in the lab. In the space between the flowers and leaves laid the serene and emotionless countenance of her parents, formed by the aggregation of "data." The moment her sleeping "parents" were about to open their eyes — By then, she had nearly destroyed the existing laws of biological evolution on the entire planet, yet she still marched on toward her goal. It wasn't until she looked up from her research and stared at the sky did she notice the gaze of the Erudition had descended upon her. |
n/a | After receiving the gaze of Nous, she left her home and began a reclusive life. No one knew what she asked Nous, but after that incident, she became even more apathetic and impassive, and even more immersed in her research —She would only study the fundamental nature of "life." A greater variety of "lifeforms" came into existence through her concoction. Some "burning" lifeforms became flowing flames that crept and weaved under her feet. Sometimes, she felt like she was fire itself. Some "fluid" beings turned into liquid light that slithered around her slender wrists. Sometimes, she felt like she was light itself. Some living things concocted from "knowledge" attempted to develop their own thoughts, sentience, and emotions. They sometimes rambunctiously cry, guffaw, or wail — all these have been fused into her body. Yet, she could not feel them. Life only exists for such a short time, after all. They fleetingly pass from birth to death, and her research is the only constant. Occasionally, her casual "research" would shake the schools of biology. Her "research" transformed many planets. Flying whales, swimming deer, fearful flowers, and trees with a vast root system... Her creations have already went beyond the scope of experience and imaginations comprehensible to organic life. She kept pushing herself for a more in-depth understanding of "life," just to bring herself closer to Nous — and THEIR unforgettable glance. Aeons... What kind of beings are they? Are they also a form of life? As her "groundbreaking" studies rose to fame with in the cosmic academic community, people always tried to disrupt her life as a recluse. She turned to look at the letter from the Genius Society on the desk and, once again, dumped it into the trashcan. |
n/a | She is surrounded by an eccentric science fanatic from a small town, an inorganic lifeform, and a puppet girl. They indulge in afternoon tea and collaborate in research. They squabble loudly and giggle from time to time. When did she first meet them? She can't remember, only that it was for a project. She was forced to be there — that, she is certain. With leisure, she munches on the cake. She became a part of this solely for the sake of simulated "Aeons," which are worth her time and efforts. They are worth her time... but not worth being forced to socialize. "Genius Society? I do not care." "This is a strange, instinctive feeling. That one named 'Herta' is rather similar to me. I mean... similar on a deeper level." She is certain that she won't make another mistake. It's because she no longer trusted anyone, so she won't be let down again, and... she won't let anyone else down again. What is the fundamental essence of "life"... Where does "life" end? Do the answers really exist? Not a trace of emotion can be discerned on her emotionless and silent face. Yet, her hair is roiling with the heat of boiling and steaming, and the rims of her eyes are slightly red — she is enjoying this. Only the word "Aeon" can stir her heart. Everything else in the universe is a mere distraction. How interesting. On the "incubator," a "life" nurtured by the "rice cooker" popped out in perfection. The method with which life is created is miraculous. How romantic. She knows better than anyone the price one has to pay to study Aeons... but she does not care. She knows! She might even — become...!? The time is just right — The update for the "project" is about to commence. She turns around and leaves. Unbeknownst to the girl, her grandmother has always been watching her through the monitor, day after day for countless years. "A-Ruan... My A-Ruan. When we finally meet again, would it be...?" |

According to this (https://www.hoyolab.com/article/18525394) break dmg calculator, ruan mei should deal 18310 dmg against elites with 300 toughness and 6103 dmg against regular mobs with 60 toughness. Does anyone know if dmg bonus applies to break dmg? If so then ruan mei can hit way harder
Sadly, Break DMG only consists exclusively of the base ATK stat, and the Break Effect multiplier. Since the DMG bonus and Elemental DMG bonus are after the base ATK in the damage equation, it doesn’t have an effect on break DMG.
It scales off ATK? I thought it was only Break Effect+Resistance penetration. If so, I have to refarm my meteor pieces lol
he said Base Atacck, you can’t get Base Attack with Relics
You need to calculate her res PEN and possibly E1 too imo, she scales mostly with her BE% and def down/res PEN, also with minimum 180-190%% BE damage. Personally, I don’t think I would bother minmaxing her dps or break damage without e6 since 120% break damage isn’t much, but it’s much different when you build full break build + e6 with her 320% multiplier..
if she gets nerfed again I may just skip and get sparkle instead
Depends how u use her though, I wouldn’t say its really much of a nerf, her ult having a delay when it procs is situationally better since u may not want to apply the other breaks(entangle & imprison) for dmg only for the boss to get his turn quicker due to freeze break recovery. The delay in activation means an even longer down time on boss. Overall less dmg on Ruan Mei but units like sushang(skill) & xueyi(Ult) will benefit from the longer downtime. May even be able to delay bosses turn an entire cycle with enough xueyi BE delay + welt Imprison & delay on ult.
do you think Fleet of the Ageless is an option on Ruan mei ?
i can’t find the right planar set for her and since she miss attack buff in her kit…
Talia will be better.
yeah but if i already has 180% BreakEffect, Maybe it doesnt worth it that much to have 36% more
having more than 180% doesn’t change much of her damage, so if you can get a better effect from a different set go for it, I can get 200% BE with hackerspace and penacony so I’m chilling
that what i thought thanks
Uh, can someone help me try to understand her new talent break damage estimate calculation?
Her new talent says that when allies break enemy target weakness, she deals break dmg equals to 100% of her ice break damage, and with e6 she gets an additional 200% multiplier (so 300% in total?).
Let’s say if she has around 280 break effect (with her e4 +100% and some stat from relics and stuffs), how much damage will she deals with her talent? will it be 280%*3 because 300% multiplier, or will it be 280%+300%=580%?
this is the same buff so it just stack, 280+300 (still insane for a support)
Nevermind i just checked it’s said ‘Multiplier’ so it should be 300*280 my bad
3*280 ofc
there’s small update for Talent, it’s now 120% instead of 100%
E6 = it’s “talent” multiplier, so assume talent default is 120%, E6 adds into that talent number.
E6 with lv12 talent should be:
132% + 200% * your break%
you can check hakush site for beta v4 update.
Are they changing the Thief of Shooting Meteors set to regenerate 3 Energy whenever anyone in the team inflicts a weakness break, not just the wearer?
If that’s true then that would be the best set for her by far and remove the need for Penacony.
3 Turn Ult with Broken Keel, Signature LC and 3 Breaks:
1.194 * (5 + 10 + 35 + 25 + 25 + 3 + 3 + 3) = 130.146
(3 breaks are very likely in 3 turns)
3 Turn Ult with Broken Keel, Memories of the Past S5 and 1 Break:
1.194 * (5 + 35 + 25 + 8 + 25 + 8 + 3) = 130.146
(pretty much 100% guaranteed)
Of course, that’s on top of 32% Break Effect which she needs anyway.
Where did u hear the new for the change in Shooting Meteor’s set? Genuinely curious to know where the source is from cuz I tried searching for any relics changes & no results regarding changes in the sets themselves.
The Ruan Mei mains subreddit… Might be misinformation. Wouldn’t it be great though?
https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail_leaks/comments/18b7tz3/thief_set_effect_changed/
Thief Meteor set kinda promising, and we just need 11 SPD(?) substat to reach 145 spd (in case anyone interested using Talia set)
but Ruan Mei extend or delay break for 1 more turn which makes it hard to keep breaking in single target scenario
assume it’s AOE break like in Pure Fiction (new forgotten hall mode), every enemies that get break Ruan Mei get 3 energy?
I also noticed this website changed their description for the set BUT the subreddit u gave was apparently labelled as fake already. Definitely would have been awesome if any breaks would generate energy for wearer.
If
A – Her technique lasts 1 turn (is removed after Ruan Mei’s first turn)
B – Her Skill only increases the SPD of other allies
C – Her SPD is below the buffed SPD of her allies,
Then
1. You start the battle with her going last
2. You use Basic Attack on her first turn.
3. The SPD buff is removed, but the team has enough Speed to go twice in the first cycle. (maybe someone can let me know how much speed that is before the buff)
4. For her second turn Ruan Mei has overtaken the DPS.
5. She uses her Skill and immediately uses her Ultimate in the same turn.
6. The Ultimate affects her allies until the beginning of her fourth turn, which will be after her allies’ fourth turn.
7. She can cast her Ultimate again during her fifth turn.
8. The second Ultimate affects the team during their fifth and sixth turn.
This ensures Ultimate uptime for the DPS for five consecutive turns with a 3-turn SP positive Ruan Mei rotation.
(124.4% ER, Signature LC with one hit, or 124.4% ER, Memories of the Past S5, or 119.4% ER, Memories of the Past S4 with one hit)
Her skill increases their speed at the start of the battle and from the beginning of her second turn onwards.
Edit: The ult will have 2/3 uptime after the first one, not five consecutive turns, as I miscounted.
Still, this should allow her to maintain 100% uptime on the dmg buffs, because the rest of the team will be buffed for their first turn and then she will overtake them to buff their second turn and onwards. So this would only sacrifice the action advance from Turn 1 to Turn 2.
Placing her at the end of the team after the second turn also enables her to run 4pc Messenger and give them even more speed, right after their turns for maximum benefit.
im not sure 4 pieces Messenger work on her since it doesnt apply on allies, it’s a field
im not sure Messenger work on her since her ult doesn’t apply on allies. it’s a field.
Nevermind… They’ve moved the SPD buff to her trace.
if 1.7/2.0 has black swan, I’m probably going to skip Ruan, since I don’t need her for any of my current primary teams. 2 primarily built teams, Dual DoT with Kafka, DoT sub, Tingyun and Huohuo, I’m not sure if replacing Tingyun with Ruan would be a necessarily better. and then both Monofire Topaz (Topaz Himeko + asta/SW) with Fu Xuan or Topaz Clara with Fu xuan and bronya. Neither of the current teams would heavily benefit from Ruan I think, which is wierd considering I’m not running any hyper carry teams and they are all dual DPS, and that is her specialty / advantage over most other harmony. or would she provide more benefits over asta for the monofire team?
The other wierd thing is that I have all the parts to make ratio shine, and yet I have 2 other topaz teams already I don’t need a 3rd (4th if you include the wierd Topaz Kafka shiananagans)
I keep reading about black swan on here, but what actually does she do?
Is she also a Harmony unit?
the orignal leak of her kit (from like 6 months ago so it probably changed), is that she is a Nihility character that deals a unique stacking wind DoT (fate card), and it stacks every DoT proc, on a % chance. and her techinique forces (if you use 4 SP on it) wind, phys, fire, electic break on all enemies. She’s also a Def shreader. Her ult would stop her DoT mechanic from resetting, and her NA applies her DoT. Overall she’s the 5* DoT unit that a lot of the DoT team users have been waiting for
I see, thanks for letting me know.
To go into more detail, Black Swan’s “Fate Card” is a unique Wind DoT that acts more like a bomb than a normal DoT. It stacks like Wind Shear but procs once and then resets to 1 stack. It has a % chance to gain stacks whenever another DoT procs on the target and at 3 stacks or higher becomes a Blast AoE instead of single target. It synergizes swell with Kafka since she can double dip on a stacked Fate Card without consuming the stacks, and since it gets passively raised by other DoT procs she doesn’t actually have to invest any SP into maintaining it. Her skill is a blast that applies a 3 turn DEF shred, and her ult shreds Effect Resist and stops her Fate card stacks from resetting for 2 turns.
I heard that Black Swan might release in 1.7? Idk if i should get Ruan Mei or just save for Black Swan
Some points to consider.
-Ruan Mei, as of this beta version, is already assured to be great
-Ruan Mei works with a lot of teams
-Ruan Mei also works good with Kafka teams
If you plan her with Kafka, this is maybe what you might want to consider.
Assuming all the units are well invested and good, which team might be better:
-Huohuo, Kafka, Sampo, Ruan Mei
-Huohuo, Kafka, Black Swan, Asta
But we all know that the winner is:
-Huohuo, Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei.
Rumors are both Swan and Hanabi would be released together in 1.6. Will see.
Also there is no 1.7, it will go straight to 2.0
*Sorry I mean both Swan and Hanabi would be released together in 2.0. Will see.
Correct
Also Hanabi is now in the grave and Sparkle is official
If anybody knows what happened to honey?
What do you mean?
The changes made me really want to pull her and her cone. but black swan might suddenly say hi at 1.7 or 2.0? speculations said theyll skip patch number like genshin.
from what I heard, after 1.6 they will jump to 2.0. And from the leak, Swan will come on 2.0
in short, Swan will come after Ruan Mei
Yeah. She used to be just a complementary to Bronya where the other is good at on things the other is weak at. Now, she just straight up became a true limited 5star Harmony character. If you happen to get her LC and/or E1, she just becomes a one stop shop buffer.
We will see before Argenti ends who the next patch’s units will be.
