    I don’t have Ruan Mei because i wasn’t playing when she was released.
    Is Boothill still worth rolling for even if i don’t have her?

    I currently have a really good HTB with (almost) godlike rolls on artifacts.

    Is combining him and Firefly a good idea? They both have monstrous break reduction and break damage.
    So that could counterbalance the lack of RM.
    I am imagining a team consisting of Boothill / Firefly / Gallgaher / HTB

    Or should i wait for a RM rerun before doing a team with either gunboy or mechagirl?

    • I actually think it’s important to have many characters whose lives have been impacted by the IPC, especially if they plan to make Oswaldo Schneider a proper antagonist in the grand scheme of things. First Aventurine, now him, it’s tragic as hell, but it allows us to see a pattern in how the IPC “saves” planets.

    • No…? If you are referring to the recently leaked kits, Firefly doesn’t scale with break effect the same way Boothill does; Firefly receives additional multiplier to her ATK% scaling enhanced skill from BE stats while Boothill directly deals break damage from his enhanced basic attack.

      If anything, Firefly *might* power creep DHIL and Jingliu because of her very high multiplier blast attack. Though she will have much difficult time gaining crit stats compared to Jinliu, and she doesn’t have innate high DMG% like DHIL. He main selling points are huge DEF% penetration, fire weakness application, and of course, powerful initial fire break damage. But we will see when smart people get to work and share their opinion.

Look at chads in Palworld, who completely ditched male characters in their game (there’s more examples in gacha currently, where male characters are removed/replaced by waifus), we dictate rules and are catered to and that will never change.

        • Not sure what’s funnier, assuming everyone who likes – nay, considers pulling for – a male character MUST be a fujoshi, or that male Harmony comment when we are *literally* about to get (male if you chose that) Harmony Trailblazer, who specifically should be a solid support for Boothill. I’d certainly rather be excluded from the “target auditory” (sic!) than make it my entire personality and framework of opinion. Sounds like it’s more about “winning” (trying to spoil others’ fun) than actually enjoying waifus. I’d argue your time is better spent having fun with the game and the characters you like, and letting others do the same.

          • This. Sure, I like waifus as much as the next guy, but I’m stoked for Boothill. First male character I’m pulling for in a while. I’ll definitely get Sam/Firefly, but I’m not as enthused about her as I am Boothill. The guy just checks too many boxes for me. Different strokes for different folks, I guess?

  5. been crunching the numbers and farming like crazy, and if my calculations are right(which I honestly hope they are since I spent so much time on em) then I should be sitting at around 75% crit rate/ 280% crit DMG, 250% break effect(I know it could be more but the roles are rolling 😭😭😭😭) my speed is lacking hard asf, which is upsetting but idk why none are dropping for me, overall id rate my current build like a solid 7/10 👍🏾😗👍🏾

    • i think it means at the start of the battle he gains 1 trickshot and his total damage ignores def for the rest of the battle but is not stackable (maybe im wrong but this makes the most sense to me)

  7. Okay. I don’t think he’s OP, or too weak, or anything. He has an interesting (really) mechanic and he’s universal due to the weakness application. I won’t pull for him because he obviously can’t go without RM and RM is heavily hated by me so any related to her character is Must-skip for me (Sam is in this list too.) But I have only one question. In the comments it is told that direct damage buffs are not working on his main damage source (break damage). So…
    OPEN THE CHAMPAGNE! FINALLY! THE FIRST CHARACTER IN BOTH GAMES EVER WHO HAS ABSOLUTELY NO F2P DAMAGE OPTION! Blade and Acheron were close, but this sexy cowboy is the first one who has really achieved this title!
    (You can say he’s trying to deal the damage with his scales too, well, good luck building atk, crit, speed and BE in high amounts at the same time. Also, they are lower than even Seele’s, so the damage won’t be high anyways)

    • I don’t understand why people keep comparing him to Seele even though they are almost exact opposite on their specialties.
      Seele excels in killing weaker enemies consecutively, while Boothill specializes in killing elites and bosses.

      Regarding build difficulties, there are videos of him using literal Fu Xuan’s lightcone and he still dunk on bosses.
      If you search on bilibili, there is also people building just BE/SPD on him and he hits for over 400k on MoC12 with RM, HMC and Gallager.

      • I compared him to Seele because both have low scales. Seele because she has more than 100% affix in her mechanics, Buthill because this is not his main damage source. And this is example why cowboy can’t deal significant damage with raw scales. Remember how “much” damage even well-built Seele deals without active passive? Not even talking about he has completely different build and team which doesn’t support own direct damage at all.

        So, any LC which doesn’t give BE, SPD or any other working for break damage stat (like def ignoring) doesn’t work on him almost at all.

        Now we open the list of hunt light cones and find out: there are ABSOLUTELY NO BE hunt light cones. ALL of them give affixes and crits, which does NOT work on his break damage. Sure, you can give him like swordplay and it will increase overall damage, but it’s like you’ll give JY Argenti’s BiS. The damage of Ult will be significantly higher, but overall damage will be lower than even some four stars because ult is not JY’s main damage source.

        And “he works even with Fu Xuan’s LC” is complete bullshit. Unlike in Genshin, in this game proper light cone is around 20-30 character efficiency and a cone without working passive is just a bit of atk (not working on him), hp and def.

        And his team is relatively f2p friendly – it’s true. You still need Ruan, but… well, I guess you can live without her.

        400k – the number you mentioned – is completely untrue, cause he’s a speedy guy, will take many turns per cycle and I can’t imagine they are giving him that much. I expect 70-80, maximum 150k per action with speed build. If the numbers are nearly as high as you mentioned, I’m deleting this game and officially say powercreep has gone too far. He has weakness application, remember. I don’t want single target Acheron analog.

        • A bit too late to doompost, don’t you think? Boothill is niche as fuck character yes we get it already. We don’t even know the guy and he is not even in the live stream, so we get it if most people would skip his banner for Firefly, or Fu Xuan rerun. Only the people who love him would pull him, so anything you say here won’t change anything.

          Btw you mention Genshin, so be prepared to regret skipping Boothill coz he’ll be meta as fuck just like when Kazuha was first introduced.

          • Err… Man, no way you’re comparing DPS character who can’t do anything but damage with universal support like Kazuha.

            Cowboy is just another DPS. And you still cannot deny he has no f2p lc option. When seele came out on release, she was by far the best hunt. When Ratio released, he became (in his best pack) the best hunt. Now buthill will be the best hunt. Couple more patches and we’ll see another powerful hunt who’ll be better than buthill. And this will never end. So..?

          • You know, skipping a character just cause they will be meta for a abyss or two. is not a good reason to pull them. Given you are comparing dps, to a support. Kazuha can make alot of teams like Mono pyro a thing. That or slot in easily in any team thats needs an anemo character. What make him good, is that he works well with so many others. While a dps, you are most likely going to be building a team around them. Which might make them a bit more limited in terms of teams they can fit into .

            Which also there is simply no way, anyone beside the super wealthy who whale. Have enough jades to get all these characters. Your going to sooner or later have to skip someone, unless your the luckiest person on earth. So the whole get ready regret hahahahah. Sounds like just promoting fear of missing out. Which again, the people who play this game are better than the company at driving home the fear of missing out. Which there is always going to be a rerun or another character that can fulfill their role. Beside you don’t need a meta team to clear memory of chaos or pure fiction. You just need a well build team.

          • Dude. with the way rng is in this game. You can’t roll for every single character. It takes awhile to build them, unless your whaling beyond belief. Which given it another dps. Which are a dime a dozen. Investing in them, means investing in them for the long game.

            A support you can swap them from team to team. Which is often not the case for a dps. Like dps, tend to want crit rate crit damage, some speed. which can lead to them being rather hard to build. For one simple reason. It can be rather hard to get these stats or at least get a proper crit rate crit damage value.

          Swordplays+crit will be responsible for around 50k at most, seeing that he breaks Argenti for 530k at the last phase,
          so yeah, seems like 200k for elites and 400k for bosses with large toughness bar seems very possible actually.

        • No way boothill will hit that low dude. 150k is within the range of maximised DHIL and Jinliu on single target and they hit two more enemies next to it.
          MHY ain’t stupid enough to release new hunt character that is equal to or worse than older destruction units on single target scenario.
          300k-400k is a lot more balanced than you think, given that he has to break the enemies first so it’s not 100% uptime.

          Also, goodluck finding new turn based gacha game to play if this is enough to make you scream “powercreep”, but we both know that any nerd that care enough to hang around data-mining website ain’t going to go through with quitting lol

            Did you hear about “balance”? Ratio cannot deal 400k every turn. Seele cannot deal 400k every turn even with constantly active passive.

            If Buthill will be able to, it will be a bright example of powercreep in this game. And yeah, powercreep does not exist.

            If I quit HSR, I’ll just happily play genshin and incoming WW, instead of trying to handle this boring playstyle and eternal powercreep active from the most beginning.

            BTW, you still have to pull for two legendaries to make cowboy potient. And the fact “character is OP even without his LC” doesn’t work because most players have no artifacts to deal 400k per rotation. Maybe you show your own video where your IL deals 400k? Because mine is 200k maximum with Sparkle, TY, Huo and good stats.

          • also, remember he has WEAKNESS IMPLANTATION. Acheron breaks all types, but her break is not that good really. Meanwhile buthill is THE BEST BREAKING DPS EVER. So I think he will be able to keep enemy broken most of the time.Imagine how OP he can be if he at the same time implants the weakness breaks enemies really fast, giving the team a ton of survivability AND dealing that huge damage. This just can’t be true, because if it’s true, well, Buthill is a total game break. Just like any new character in this freaking game. Yep, powercreep is false.

            The “300-400k is balanced” I said is about Boothill hitting bosses. I don’t know why are you asking for Ratio/Seele/DHIL video from reading that.
            And guess what, its pretty close to what DHIL and Jinliu can achieve in total, isn’t it? Even though it won’t have 100% uptime compare to them because he has to trigger or hit a weakness broken enemies. And only bosses have enough toughness bar to have that kind of break damage – this is already an indicator that Boothill won’t be universally powerful as DHIL, Jingliu and Acheron. He will stay as boss killer and that’s it.

            You said so yourself that you can hit 200k on DHIL, and why can’t Boothill do around the same or better in single target?
            It’s almost as if you just wish for Boothill to be bad for no reason, even though the game is introducing new break oriented characters like Gallager and HMC.

        • I mean you don’t have to believe anyone here. You can just wait for the next three weeks when Boothill went live and smart people get to work on their builds.

          I have to say though, that saying Boothill will deal 150k maximum is too much of underestimation. Because physical break is one of stronger ones for its initial break damage.

          For example, my Sushang with 120 CDMG and 130%BE (40+E4+Watchmaker’s+RM) dealt over 150k on current MoC Aventurine already (initial break+skill damage+RM break).
          It’s really easy to imagine that Boothill with 250-300%BE dealing 1.7 times of physical break+ super break damage from Harmony Trailblazer will far exceed that number.

  8. so from what i understand you want crit rate body for him with speed boost and break effect rope with a damage bonus sphere because other than rope you can’t get a main stat of break effect and than for substats you just ignore every stat in existence for break effect until 300% (more likely less because of other units bonus like ruin mei and imaginary mc)

    • That seems about right, substat priority should be speed to some breakpoint, then break effect more than any other stat, although atk/crit stats are still somewhat desirable. Atk orb or body may even be desirable if they have a significant chunk of break effect more than the piece you would otherwise use.

      Although, 300% break effect is going to be basically impossible to hit without supports. The only LC that will give you break is his signature, so you’ll hit 130-170 easily from mainstats, traces, and relic sets. From there it’s going to be all substats, so unless you can hit about 25-30% break each on 5 relics, you’re not getting to that cap without supports and/or his signature.
